NEET MDS 2026 application correction window will open on April 4, 2026. Candidates who submitted their forms will be able to edit the details and documents till April 6, 2026. The NEET MDS application form 2026 was available from March 14 to March 30, 2026

The NEET MDS 2026 exam date has been announced. The exam will be held online on May 2, 2026, in computer-based mode. The exam comprises 240 questions of 4 marks each. The exam carries the weightage of 960 marks. The exam duration is three hours.

NEET MDS is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to the post-graduate dental courses across institutes in India. BDS students or practising dentists can take the test to pursue the MDS course. The exam is held in around 60 cities across India.

What is NEET MDS?

NEET MDS stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery. It is an entrance exam conducted by NBE for providing admissions to all the postgraduate dental courses offered by the institutions in India. NEET MDS exam is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination conducted annually in online mode. The scores are accepted by most dental colleges across the country. A total of 6,501 Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) seats are offered under 50% All India Quota (AIQ), 50% state quota seats, and 100% seats in deemed/central universities and private colleges through the exam. After the declaration of the NEET MDS result, the counselling process will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

How to Apply Online for NEET MDS 2026?

Aspirants of the PG Dental entrance test needed to register themselves on the official website of NBE to appear for the MDS exam. After completing the registration process, candidates needed to fill the NEET MDS 2026 application form. Have a look at the application process below-

  • Visit the official website of NEET MDS 2026.
  • Register on the portal to generate a User ID and Password.
  • Fill the application form.
  • Upload the photograph and signature as per the specified format and size.
  • Pay the requisite amount of fees.

NEET MDS 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who wish to apply for NEET MDS 2026 are advised to read and understand the criteria set by NBE. It is also important that a candidate meet the requirements set by NBE for the exam. If at any point in time NBE finds out that the candidate does not meet the eligibility requirements for NEET MDS 2026, his/her candidature will be cancelled.

  • They must have a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from a University/Institute recognised by the DCI

  • They must be registered with the Dental Council of India (DCI) or State Dental Council (SDC) (permanent/provisional)

  • They must have completed 12 months of compulsory rotatory internship within the stipulated date.

NEET MDS 2026 Admit Card

The NBEMS will release the NEET MDS admit card April 29, 2026, a few days before the exam date. The admit card will carry important information like the name of the candidate, date of birth, exam date and timing, name and address of the exam centres and exam-day guidelines. The admit card for the NEET MDS exam must be carried to the exam centre in a hard copy. It is released online, and candidates have to download it through their login credentials from the exam portal. Candidates must preserve the NEET MDS 2026 admit card till the counselling process, as it is one of the mandatory documents during institute reporting. 

The NEET MDS city intimation slip 2026 will be released on April 22, 2026.

NEET MDS 2026: Exam Day Guidelines

NEET MDS 2026 will be conducted in an online or computer-based mode. Each candidate was allocated a separate computer for taking the exam. A few guidelines for the NEET MDS 2026 exam day are given below:

  • Visit the exam centre of NEET MDS 2026 one day before the examination to get an idea of the location
  • Three things that you must carry to the examination hall: NEET MDS admit card, a valid photo ID proof and a passport-sized photograph
  • Report to the NEET MDS 2026 exam centre at least two hours before the examination
  • Do not carry bags, books, pens, papers, notes, etc. to the examination centre
  • Electronics such as calculators, mobile phones, smart watches, pagers, Bluetooth, etc., are prohibited inside the examination hall
  • Do not carry food to the examination hall
  • Wearing ornaments such as necklaces, pendants, earrings, nose pins, rings, brooches, etc. is prohibited.

NEET MDS 2026 Pattern

The NEET MDS exam is conducted online. As per the NEET MDS 2026 pattern, the paper comprises 240 questions. The exam will be held from 2 PM to 5 PM. The exam has two parts, Part A and Part B. Part A has 100 questions, and Part B has 140 questions. Each correct answer gets 4 marks and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Last year, NBEMS introduced time-bound sections. NEET MDS 2026 Analysis

The NEET MDS 2026 analysis will be provided after the exam is conducted. Till then, have a look at the previous year's exam analysis below. The NEET MDS 2025 exam difficulty level was easy to moderate. According to candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level was easier than last year. There was an equal distribution of questions from all 17 topics of the NEET MDS syllabus. The number of image-based questions was higher compared to last year. Moreover, the theoretical questions were tricky in nature and not direct. Some students, who had appeared for last year's NEET MDS exam, said that some questions from last year were repeated this year, including the answer choices. Topics from which maximum questions were asked include Oral Pathology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics and Clinical subjects. As per some candidates, the Clinical questions were lengthy and tricky.

NEET MDS 2026 Result

NEET MDS 2026 result date has been announced by NBEMS in the information bulletin. The result will be out by June 2, 2026. The NEET MDS results contain important details, including the Roll number of candidates, the score obtained out of 960, and the NEET MDS overall rank. The NEET MDS cutoff marks are also released along with the results. NBE will release the NEET MDS AIQ 50% scorecard a few days after the merit list declaration. Test-takers have to download the scorecard by entering their Roll number, date of birth, and captcha code.

NEET MDS 2026 Cutoff

The NEET MDS 2026 cutoff will be announced by NBEMS along with the result. For reference, here we have provided the NEET MDS cutoff for last year. The NEET MDS 2025 cutoff was revised as per the official notification of NBEMS dated August 14, 2025. The General category cutoff percentile has been reduced from 50 to 30.137 percentile, reserved category cutoff is reduced from 40 to 20.137 percentile. On the other hand, the General-PWBD cutoff percentile has been revised to 25.137 percentile from 45 percentile.

NEET MDS 2026 Counselling

MCC conducts the NEET MDS counselling for 50 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats, deemed/central university seats, ESIC and AFMC seats. To participate in the NEET MDS 2026 counselling, eligible candidates have to register themselves on the MCC NEET MDS counselling portal. They have to fill in their choice of colleges and courses as well. Four rounds of counselling are originally conducted, including the online stray vacancy round for admission into the Master's of Dental Surgery courses. Based on the marks and ranks of the applicants, choice filled, seat availability, and other criteria, MCC releases the seat allotment list for NEET MDS counselling. Selected candidates have to report to the allotted institute for confirmation of admission. Additional rounds of NEET MDS counselling will be conducted if there are vacant seats at the participating institutes.

Q:   Is there any change in the NEET MDS 2026?
A: 

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will soon release the notification or information bulletin for NEET MDS 2026. There may not be any change in NEET MDS exam this year. Any change in the exam such as pattern or exam mode will be shared here. 

Q:   How many exam city options can be selected in the NEET MDS application form?
A: 

Candidates can select only one exam city preference in the NEET MDS application form. The total number of NEET MDS 2025 exam cities was 59. It is expected that the number of exam cities will increase for NEET MDS 2026. Since only one exam city choice is allowed, candidates must choose the city closest to their present address. 

Q:   Is it possible to fill NEET MDS application form in offline mode?
A: 

No, NEET MDS application form can be filled in an online mode only. Candidates have to visit the NBE website and click on the NEET MDS section and complete the registration and application procedure by filling in the mandatory details, uploading the documents such as certificates, photograph and signature, and paying the requisite application fee in an online mode. Even if a candidate plans to send the hardcopy of the filled up NEET MDS application form by post, it will not be accepted making the candidate ineligible to appear for the exam. 

Q:   Will I be able to appear for NEET MDS exam if I do not complete my internship within the deadline?
A: 

Candidates cannot appear for the NEET MDS exam if they do not complete the BDS internship before the cutoff date. The NEET MDS cutoff date for internship is mentioned on the information bulletin.

A: 

No, the NEET MDS tie-breaking criteria have remained the same over the past few years. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has not made any changes in the NEET MDS tie-breaking criteria over the years, proving the efficacy of the system. The highest weightage is provided to the overall accuracy, followed by sectional accuracy and lastly, age criterion. 

Q:   What is the date of NEET MDS 2026?
A: 

The NBEMS will conduct NEET MDS exam on May 2, 2026. The exam will be held online in the computer-based test mode. The MDS exam is of 3 hours.

Q:   Which institutes do not accept NEET MDS scores?
A: 

While all dental colleges across India accept NEET MDS scores, AIIMS Delhi, or other AIIMS campuses offering MDS course do not accept NEET MDS scores. Hence, MDS aspirants planning to take admission to AIIMS colleges have to appear for INI CET (MDS) exam. On the other hand, candidates are advised to prepare and appear for NEET MDS entrance exam to amplify their chances of admission.

No, candidates have to qualify for NEET MDS to become eligible for NEET MDS counselling.  Candidates have to qualify for the NEET MDS exam with a minimum cutoff, which varies for each category. The minimum cutoff percentile for general category candidates is 50, while for SC/ST, the cutoff is 40th. Eligible candidates have to register on the official website, mcc.nic.in, to participate in the counselling for NEET MDS. Registration is followed by a choice declaration. Candidates can declare as many choices as they want to in order of their preferences.

Q:   What is the difference between the NEET MDS primary correction window and final correction window?
A: 

There are two types of NEET MDS application correction window. In the first and primary correction window, and the final correction window. In the first or primary NEET MDS correction window, candidates can make corrections or changes in the informtion entered in the application form, except for a few fields. On the other hand, in the NEET MDS final correction window, candidates will be able to make corrections in the incorrect or deficient images of photograph, signature and thumb impression. Candidates will not be able to make changes in the images in the primary correction window and vice versa. 

Q:   Which fields are not editable in the NEET MDS application correction window?
A: 

The following fields cannot be edited in the NEET MDS application correction window:

  • Candidate Name
  • Nationality
  • Mobile Number
  • Email address
  • Permanent address
  • Test centre city choice.
Q:   How to download the NEET MDS admit card if I forget my login details?
A: 

To download the NEET MDS admit card, candidates have to login with their registration credentials such as application number and password or date of birth. In case they have forgotten or misplaced the details, they have to click on the Forgot Password link to retreieve the username or password. During this process, they should keep their mobile number and email id active as NBEMS will send the retrieving link through email or SMS. In case even the Forgot password option does not work, they have to contact NBEMS or NEET MDS helpline number. To avoid such a situation, candidates are advised to save the login details or registration credentials properly.

A: 

NEET MDS admit card is one of the most crucial documents to be carried at the exam centres. Without this, candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam as it also acts as the hall ticket for the exam centre. The following information are printed on the NEET MDS admit card:

Q:   What are the exam day instructions given on the NEET MDS admit card?
A: 

The NEET MDS admit card carries exam day instructions which must be followed by test-takers. These instructions or guidelines are given below:

  • Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without the NEET MDS admit card 2026
  • Candidates are advised to reach the NEET MDS exam centre at least an hour before the exam starts to avoid last-minute hustle.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to take a bio-break between registration and exam commencement time. A bio break can only be taken once the examination starts.
  • Students have to take their admit card, a government-issued photo ID card. Documents in Digilocker will not be accepted.
  • Using any unfair means will debar students from appearing in the entrance examination.
  • Use of any electronic device, including cell phones, pagers, and calculators, is strictly prohibited inside the examination centre.
  • Any stationary item, textual material, or calculator is not allowed to be taken to the examination centre.
  • Students are not allowed to take eatery items to the examination centre.
  • Candidates have to make arrangements to keep their belongings, as the exam centre will not be responsible for any personal belongings of any student.
