What is NEET MDS?
NEET MDS stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery. It is an entrance exam conducted by NBE for providing admissions to all the postgraduate dental courses offered by the institutions in India. NEET MDS exam is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination conducted annually in online mode. The scores are accepted by most dental colleges across the country. A total of 6,501 Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) seats are offered under 50% All India Quota (AIQ), 50% state quota seats, and 100% seats in deemed/central universities and private colleges through the exam. After the declaration of the NEET MDS result, the counselling process will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

NEET MDS 2026 Admit Card

The NBEMS will release the NEET MDS admit card April 29, 2026, a few days before the exam date. The admit card will carry important information like the name of the candidate, date of birth, exam date and timing, name and address of the exam centres and exam-day guidelines. The admit card for the NEET MDS exam must be carried to the exam centre in a hard copy. It is released online, and candidates have to download it through their login credentials from the exam portal. Candidates must preserve the NEET MDS 2026 admit card till the counselling process, as it is one of the mandatory documents during institute reporting.
The NEET MDS city intimation slip 2026 will be released on April 22, 2026.

NEET MDS 2026: Exam Day Guidelines
NEET MDS 2026 will be conducted in an online or computer-based mode. Each candidate was allocated a separate computer for taking the exam. A few guidelines for the NEET MDS 2026 exam day are given below:
- Visit the exam centre of NEET MDS 2026 one day before the examination to get an idea of the location
- Three things that you must carry to the examination hall: NEET MDS admit card, a valid photo ID proof and a passport-sized photograph
- Report to the NEET MDS 2026 exam centre at least two hours before the examination
- Do not carry bags, books, pens, papers, notes, etc. to the examination centre
- Electronics such as calculators, mobile phones, smart watches, pagers, Bluetooth, etc., are prohibited inside the examination hall
- Do not carry food to the examination hall
- Wearing ornaments such as necklaces, pendants, earrings, nose pins, rings, brooches, etc. is prohibited.
NEET MDS 2026 Pattern
The NEET MDS exam is conducted online. As per the NEET MDS 2026 pattern, the paper comprises 240 questions. The exam will be held from 2 PM to 5 PM. The exam has two parts, Part A and Part B. Part A has 100 questions, and Part B has 140 questions. Each correct answer gets 4 marks and 1 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Last year, NBEMS introduced time-bound sections. NEET MDS 2026 Analysis
The NEET MDS 2026 analysis will be provided after the exam is conducted. Till then, have a look at the previous year's exam analysis below. The NEET MDS 2025 exam difficulty level was easy to moderate. According to candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level was easier than last year. There was an equal distribution of questions from all 17 topics of the NEET MDS syllabus. The number of image-based questions was higher compared to last year. Moreover, the theoretical questions were tricky in nature and not direct. Some students, who had appeared for last year's NEET MDS exam, said that some questions from last year were repeated this year, including the answer choices. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will soon release the notification or information bulletin for NEET MDS 2026. There may not be any change in NEET MDS exam this year. Any change in the exam such as pattern or exam mode will be shared here.
Candidates can select only one exam city preference in the NEET MDS application form. The total number of NEET MDS 2025 exam cities was 59. It is expected that the number of exam cities will increase for NEET MDS 2026. Since only one exam city choice is allowed, candidates must choose the city closest to their present address.
No, NEET MDS application form can be filled in an online mode only. Candidates have to visit the NBE website and click on the NEET MDS section and complete the registration and application procedure by filling in the mandatory details, uploading the documents such as certificates, photograph and signature, and paying the requisite application fee in an online mode. Even if a candidate plans to send the hardcopy of the filled up NEET MDS application form by post, it will not be accepted making the candidate ineligible to appear for the exam.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has not made any changes in the NEET MDS tie-breaking criteria over the years, proving the efficacy of the system. There are two types of NEET MDS application correction window. In the first and primary correction window, and the final correction window. In the first or primary NEET MDS correction window, candidates can make corrections or changes in the informtion entered in the application form, except for a few fields. On the other hand, in the NEET MDS final correction window, candidates will be able to make corrections in the incorrect or deficient images of photograph, signature and thumb impression. Candidates will not be able to make changes in the images in the primary correction window and vice versa.

In case even the Forgot password option does not work, they have to contact NBEMS or NEET MDS helpline number. The NEET MDS admit card carries exam day instructions which must be followed by test-takers. These instructions or guidelines are given below:
- Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without the NEET MDS admit card 2026
- Candidates are advised to reach the NEET MDS exam centre at least an hour before the exam starts to avoid last-minute hustle.
- Candidates will not be allowed to take a bio-break between registration and exam commencement time. A bio break can only be taken once the examination starts.
- Students have to take their admit card, a government-issued photo ID card. Documents in Digilocker will not be accepted.
- Using any unfair means will debar students from appearing in the entrance examination.
- Use of any electronic device, including cell phones, pagers, and calculators, is strictly prohibited inside the examination centre.
- Any stationary item, textual material, or calculator is not allowed to be taken to the examination centre.
- Students are not allowed to take eatery items to the examination centre.
- Candidates have to make arrangements to keep their belongings, as the exam centre will not be responsible for any personal belongings of any student.
