Q:   How is 3D modeling different from 3D rendering?

A:
It used to be that 3D modeling was a method to create a 3 dimensional wireframe of an object using mathematics and a graphics processor to to design an object which would have various textures applied as well as a lighting set up and sometimes an environment or animation added to further its understanding and utility and then the whole project would have to be rendered in a separate process to show the finalized visual results. in the early development of 3D software, the processes involved were so demanding compared to the computing hardware available to make this happen required that the steps be done in separate chunks in order for the computer to accomplish the end goal.producing the best possible representation of an idea or concept Over time, the demands of industry and commerce have pushed both the hardware and software to their limits, and today's computers and programs are capable of creating and displaying 3D information faster than ever In just the last few years the gaming technology has been incorporated into the creation software used to create gaming assets .these assets were originally 2D rendered representations of 3D modeled objects that had to be programmed to mimic 3D behavior in an interactive 2D gameplay program environment.later the gameplay environment became more hardware based with the introduction of graphical processing units capable of displaying 3D generated objects on the fly (minus the ability to make editorial changes to the scene during the rendering process. However, recent advancements in 3D viewport rendering techniques have accelerated scene rendering calculations to the point where it is not only possible to visualize 3D editing changes in real-time, but changes to the entire visual environment including textures, materials, lighting, atmospherics, and animation can be displayed in real-time without the need for a separate, time consuming final rendering process for each individual frame of 3D information. This real-time rendering advancement means not only can you see the results near instantaneously in a nearly finalized quality, but you can also interact and edit the entire scene on the fly and make it available for viewing and interaction in a virtual environment that can be experienced by different viewers from different angles simultaneously!
