RRB Group D 2025 exam will be conducted this year. RRB Group D notification 2025 has been released. According to the announcement made by Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, railway group d exam will be conducted every year. The selection process comprises CBT, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination. The recruitment is conducted to select candidates for the various posts in Level-1 of the seventh CPC pay matrix such as Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical, and S&T departments), Assistant Pointsman, and many more. 

As per the minimum academic qualification, candidates who wish to apply for the RRB Group D exam must have qualified 10+2 while the age limit required for the exam is 18 to 30 years. Candidates must adhere to the eligibility criteria prescribed for the exam. Candidates not following the eligibility criteria are rejected from the recruitment process.

RRB Group D application form 2025 will be released on January 23, 2025 by the Railway Recruitment Boards. RRB Group D application form should be filled online only. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates except the fee concession categories). The fee for PwBD/Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen/SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class is INR 250. Candidates can pay the fee both online and offline. Candidates are not required to sent the hard copy of the application form.

For the RRB Group D exam, the age of candidates should be between 18 and 33 years. Candidates must have completed Class 10 or ITI or equivalent or NCVT/SCVT or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT to apply for the exam. RRB Group D exam is conducted for the level 1 posts in Indian Railways. The selection process includes Computer Based Test, Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST), Document Verification and Medical Exam. The year-wise total recruitment done through RRB Group D is given below.

The question paper of RRB Group D CBT is formulated in 15 languages Hindi English Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipur, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. The RRB paper, or Railway Recruitment Board paper, can be in various languages depending on the region or the specific examination. However, the majority of RRB papers are in the official language of the state in which the examination is taking place. For example, if the examination is taking place in Tamil Nadu, the paper is likely to be in Tamil. Likewise, if the exam is taking place in Kolkata, the language of the question paper will be in Bengali. Candidates can opt to choose the exam language while filling the application form.

Yes, candidates can change their states in the RRB Group D exam. This can be done by first choosing 'Application Modification' which is available in the home page of the registration portal. After candidates have chosen the preferred state, they need to pay a non-refundable fee of INR 100 for modifying the application. Once candidates have successfully paid the application fee they can make the necessary changes and then submit it. Please note that candidates will not be able to edit your registration number, email id, mobile number, and your zone. Candidates are required to fill the application form online. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates except the fee concession categories). There is a negative marking in the RRB Group D exam. 1/3 of marks are deducted for wrong answers. Candidates for correct answers are awarded one mark. The total marks of candidates are calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers. RRB Group D marking scheme is given below.

English is the default language. In case the candidate wishes to choose any other language, then the same can be selected from the drop down list of languages. The languages listed are Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. In case of any difference/ discrepancy/dispute in the Questions between English and the opted language, the content of English version shall prevail. 

If the candidate is eligible for more than one post based on his/her educational qualification and other details furnished, he/she must set the priority/preferences for these posts. The list of posts (in the chosen Railway) for which a candidate is eligible is displayed. Similarly, if the chosen Railway has vacancies for more than one Railway, then vacancies for all such Railways for which a candidate is eligible, will be listed out. The candidate should fill their priority/preferences number in the textbox against each post that he/she is eligible for, in the Railway they are applying to. 

Candidates who appear in the CBT exam are refunded their application fees. Candidates belonging to SC / ST/ ExSM/ PwBD/ Female/ Minority/EBC/Transgender categories will be entitled to get a full refund of their examination fees, which is INR 250. Whereas candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC categories receive a partial refund of their examination fees, which is INR 400 after deducting the bank charges. To get the refund of application fee, candidates need to update their bank accounts. While, filling the application form candidates need to provide the details of their bank accounts inorder to get the fee refund.

The application fees for RRB Group D exam are INR 500 for all candidates except the fee concession categories. For PwBD/Female/Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen/SC/ST/Minority Communities/Economically Backward Class, the application fees are INR 250. The application fee can be paid online and offline. On appearing in CBT, candidates belonging to reserved categories are given full refund of application fee. Those belonging to unreserved categories are given partial refund of application fee. RRB Group D application fee can be paid online using Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card/UPI. The application fee can be paid offline by using SBI Challan or post office challan.

On submitting the primary details, the Registration Number and Password is displayed to the candidate. Also, OTPs are sent to
the registered Mobile Number and email along with the Registration details. The candidate should retrieve the OTPs from email and Mobile and then enter OTPs to proceed with the filling up of application and to make payment.

Apart from RRB Group D salary, promotion is an important aspect of the exam. RRB Group D offers promotions to its employees to RRB Group C on the basis of hard work and seniority. The important points related to the promotion are given below:

• Group D employees are promoted to Group C after 3 years of regular service 
• The promotion is based on departmental exams and no advertisement is released for the exam
• These promotional exams are conducted for 100 marks of which written exams carry 85 marks and the rest 15 marks are of Service record and official conduct
• Promotions to Group C require the employees to have a minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi

Empanelling of candidates in RRB Group D exam is done based on their performance in CBT, subject to their qualifying in PET. The appointment is offered to selected candidates provided they qualify the requisite medical fitness test and document verification. In case two or more candidates secure the same marks, their merit position is determined by the age criteria. The letter of appointment is issued by the Railway Administrations. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. It may also be noted that all candidates successful in DV are sent for Medical Examination. Clearing of such Medical Examination by additional candidates (those called for DV beyond the notified number of vacancies) will give such candidates no right to be considered for appointment. Candidates may note that RRBs/RRCs only recommend names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered only by the respective Railway Administrations.

Yes, there are qualifying marks in RRB Group D exam. The qualifying marks for your and EWS categories are 40 and 30 for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, and ST. These percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2 per cent for PwBD candidates in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them. Besides the cut off marks, candidates are required to secure the qualifying as per their categories to qualify the exam. RRB Group D scorecard is released along with the result. Candidates need to download their scorecard by logging into their accounts with user ID and password. The scorecard display details such as candidate's name, roll number, registration number, raw score, pro-rata score, normalised score and qualifying status. Percentile scores are scores based on the relative performance of all candidates who appear for the examination. The marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each shift. The percentile score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored equal to or below (same or lower raw scores) that particular percentile in that examination. Therefore, the topper (the highest score) of each shift get the same percentile of 100 which is desirable. In percentitle-based normalisation, the marks obtained between the highest and the lowest scores are also converted to appropriate percentiles. In case of two or more candidates secure same normalised percentile score, their merit position is determined by age criteria.

Once the RRB Group D CBT result is announced to select candidates for PET round. In this round, the fitness of candidates is evaluated by the board. Candidates qualifying the PET are called for document verification and medical exam. PET is qualifying in nature and it is mandatory to pass it. Candidates are called for document verification as per their merit. Post document verification, candidates are called for medical.

RRB Group D admit card for PET is released by the Railway Recruitment Cells (RRCs). The PET admit card is released for candidates who qualify the CBT exam. RRB Group D admit card is released four days before the scheduled CBT. Candidates need to download RRB Group D admit card online. The zone-wise links to download the admit card are made available on the respective official websites of RRBs. To download the admit card, candidates need to enter user ID and password. RRBs releases admit card for the computer based test. The admit card for physical efficiency test is released by the Railway Recruitment Cells. RRBs do not send the hard copy of the admit card individually. You need to download the admit card online. After downloading the admit card, save it in a folder or send it to your email ID so that you can easily access it. Candidates need to download their admit cards online only. The admit card link is made available in the respective official websites of RRBs. Candidates can download their admit cards by logging with the required credentials such as user ID and password. The hard copy of RRB Group D admit card is not sent to candidates by post. The admit card is an important document as it comprises the details related to the exam. Candidates need to carry the printed copy of the RRB Group D admit card along with one photo-identity to the exam centre.

You need to download your RRB Group D admit card from the zone you have applied for the exam. To download the admit card, you need to go to the respective official websites and click on the admit card download link. Candidates can download their admit cards from the zone they have applied for. The link to download the admit card is made available on the region-wise official websites of RRBs. To download the admit card, candidates need to enter user ID and password. RRB Group D admit card comprises details such as roll number, registration number, candidate’s signature, candidate’s photograph, exam slot, google map link, reporting time, date of birth, exam date, etc. In case of any discrepancies in details, candidates must report to the examination authority for correction.

RRB  Group D cut off is the minimum qualifying marks which candidates need to secure inorder to qualify the exam and become eligible for the next round of selection process. RRB Group D cut off is released in PDF form and comprises the category-wise cut off marks. There are no sectional cut off marks in the exam. The examination authority releases overall cut off marks for the exam. Candidates securing equal to or more than the cut off marks are selected for the exam. RRB Group D cut off marks are calculated out of 100 marks. There are various factors based on which the cut off marks are calculated. These factors are number of vacancies, difficulty level of the exam and number of test takers. RRB Group D cut off is calculated after the normalisation of marks.

RRB Mumbai Group D cut off under open category for UR category was 96.76876, 91.14303 for SC, 85.68447 for ST, 94.56106 for OBC and 81.77030 for EWS. The category-wise cut off marks are given below.

RRB Chennai Group D cut off in 2022 for CBT exam was 94.06 for UR, 86.46 for SC, 81.40 for ST, 90.84 for OBC and 77.91 for EWS. The cut offs for different categories are given below.

A total of 1,03,769 vacancies were announced for RRB Group D 2022 exam. A total of 42,355 vacancies were announced for General category, 15,559 for OBC category, 15,559 for SC and 7,984 for ST. The vacancy break-up is given below.

The CCAAs (Course Completed Act Apprentice) trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) for preparation of the final merit list. Such candidates are exempted from PET/PST. Railways will give one-third weightage to the NCVT marks in preparation of RRB Group D final merit list after the conduct of CBT. Earlier, CCAAs had to appear for PET and the final merit list was prepared based on the marks obtained in CBT and PET subject to qualifying the document verification.

The official notice reads, “20 per cent of reservation in RRB Group D exam is given to CCAAs. In line with the provision contained under section 22 of Apprentice Act, CCAAs trained in the railway establishments may be given due weightage for the same such that one-third of the mark in preparation of the final merit list after the conduct of CBT shall be based on the marks obtained in their NCVT exam. They shall, however, be eligible for empanelment only after document verification and qualifying the medical standards. Such candidates will be exempted from PET since they are already trained in railway establishment and have gone through rigor working in Railways and have proved themselves in meeting the physical standard required for performing their jobs."

The salary of Group D railway staff is decided by railway recruitment boards (RRBs). The RRB Group D Salary is part of the 7th Central Pay Commission's (CPC) Level 1 Salary. The salary structure of an Indian Railway Group-D staff is as follows: 1. The pay scale ranges between INR 5200 to INR 20200 2. The basic pay is INR 18,000. 3. The grade pay that Group D is entitled to is INR 1800. 4. They also receive House Rent Allowance, which varies by city and can range from 8% to 24%. 5. The dearness allowance of Group D is revised to INR 6,120. As a result, the starting salary for Group D staff at the junior level can be up to INR 27,920, excluding travel allowance.

RRB Group D salary after 10 years increases upto INR 25,000 depending upon various factors. Candidates' salary is revised on the basis of 39 per cent DA allowances and the salary after five years jumps to INR 15,000 at least, depending on their pay band and the city they are posted in. Intially, the salary package of RRB Group D ranges between INR 3 to 5 lakh. Candidates also get various perks and allowances as a part of RRB Group D salary.

The recruitment of RRB Group D includes various technical and non-technical posts. The job profiles differ as per the hierarchy level of different railway departments. Candidates who join RRB Group D based on their performances are promoted to higher posts. Also, candidates become eligible for departmental examinations after three years of service. The CBT of RRB Group D exam comprises four sections-General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning and General Awareness and Current Affairs. Total marks allotted to CBT are 100. Based on the marks obtained in CBT, candidates are called for PET. The PET is qualifying in nature. Those who qualify the PET are called for document verification. Final empanellment of candidates is done based on the performance in CBT subject to their qualifying the document verification and medical exam.
