RRB Group D 2025: Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) made an official announcement related to RRB Group D 2025 eligibility. According to the Ministry of Railways, the minimum educational qualification for RRB Group D 2025 exam for all posts will be 10th pass or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT. This means, all candidates who have completed Class 10/ITI/NAC are eligible for RRB Group D 2025 exam. ITI is not mandatory for RRB Group D 2025 exam. As per the previous official order, ITI was mandatory for applying to the RRB Group D exam. 

RRBs released RRB Group D 2025 notification 2024 for a total of 32,438 vacancies. RRB Group D notification 2025 was released on the official website in PDF form. The notification comprises important dates, exam pattern, selection process, syllabus, etc.RRB Group D application form 2025 will be released online on January 23, 2025. The deadline to fill RRB Group D application form 2025 is February 23, 2025. The age limit for RRB Group D 2025 exam is 18 to 33 years. 

The selection process comprises CBT, Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Document Verification, and Medical Examination. RRB Group D 2025 exam will be conducted this year. RRB Group D notification 2025 has been released. According to the announcement made by Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, railway group d exam will be conducted every year. Q:   Can a 12th pass apply for RRB Group D?

As per the minimum academic qualification, candidates who wish to apply for the RRB Group D exam must have qualified 10+2 while the age limit required for the exam is 18 to 30 years. RRB Group D application form 2025 will be released on January 23, 2025 by the Railway Recruitment Boards. RRB Group D application form should be filled online only. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates except the fee concession categories). Q:   What is the educational qualification required for RRB Group D exam?

For the RRB Group D exam, the age of candidates should be between 18 and 33 years. You are not eligible to apply for the upcoming RRB Group D exam cycle. This is due to the age criteria of the RRB for the Group D exam. The age limit for the Indian Railways Group D exam is 33 years. The educational requirement states that applicants must hold a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) or have completed the equivalent of grade 10 or higher. Q:   In how many languages RRB Group D question paper will be framed?

A:

The question paper of RRB Group D CBT is formulated in 15 languages Hindi English Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipur, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. The RRB paper, or Railway Recruitment Board paper, can be in various languages depending on the region or the specific examination. However, the majority of RRB papers are in the official language of the state in which the examination is taking place. For example, if the examination is taking place in Tamil Nadu, the paper is likely to be in Tamil. Likewise, if the exam is taking place in Kolkata, the language of the question paper will be in Bengali. Candidates can opt to choose the exam language while filling the application form.

Yes, candidates can change their states in the RRB Group D exam. This can be done by first choosing 'Application Modification' which is available in the home page of the registration portal. After candidates have chosen the preferred state, they need to pay a non-refundable fee of INR 100 for modifying the application. Once candidates have successfully paid the application fee they can make the necessary changes and then submit it. Please note that candidates will not be able to edit your registration number, email id, mobile number, and your zone. Q:   What is RRB Group D normalisation?

A:
RRBs follow percentile-based normalisation in the RRB Group D exam. The percentile score of each candidate is converted into normalised marks by inserting the raw marks into the base shift. The calculation of base shift is done by using the standard mathematical formula of interpolation. The percentile score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored equal to or below (same or lower raw scores) that particular percentile in that examination.

Q:   What is RRB Group D negative marking?

A:

There is a negative marking in the RRB Group D exam. 1/3 of marks are deducted for wrong answers. Candidates for correct answers are awarded one mark. The total marks of candidates are calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers. RRB Group D marking scheme is given below.

Q:   How to choose exam language in RRB Group D exam?

A:

English is the default language. In case the candidate wishes to choose any other language, then the same can be selected from the drop down list of languages. The languages listed are Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. In case of any difference/ discrepancy/dispute in the Questions between English and the opted language, the content of English version shall prevail.

Q:   How to enter the preferences of posts for RRB Group D exam?

A:

If the candidate is eligible for more than one post based on his/her educational qualification and other details furnished, he/she must set the priority/preferences for these posts. The list of posts (in the chosen Railway) for which a candidate is eligible is displayed. Similarly, if the chosen Railway has vacancies for more than one Railway, then vacancies for all such Railways for which a candidate is eligible, will be listed out. RRB Group D Application Form 2025

RRB Group D application form 2025 will be released on January 23, 2025. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates expected the fee concession categories). The fee for PwBD/ Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class was INR 250. Candidates can pay the fee both online and offline. The application fee is refunded after candidates appear in the CBT. Candidates belonging to the unreserved categories get partial refund of application fees while reserved category candidates are entitled for full refund of the application fees. The link to check the application status is activated after the application process closes. To check the application status, candidates need to enter registration number/date of birth and security code.

Steps to Apply for RRB Group D 

  • Visit the official website-http://www.rrbcdg.gov.in/
  • Click on the ‘New Registration’ link
  • Register for the exam by entering details such as name, date of birth and father’s name, mother’s name, Aadhaar Number, SSLC/Matric registration number, year of passing, mobile number, email ID and then submit the registration form
  • Upon registration, registration number and password are generated
  • In Part I of the application page, provide the details of educational qualification, community, gender, religion, Ex-Servicemen, CCAA, Minority, Economically Backward Class and Age Relaxation and other details
  • In Part II of the application page, enter the priority/preference of the RRB Group D posts
  • Pay the application fees using Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI and Offline Challan
  • Choose the exam languages-Hindi, English, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu

Q:   How much application fees is refunded for RRB Group D exam?

A:

Candidates who appear in the CBT exam are refunded their application fees. Candidates belonging to SC / ST/ ExSM/ PwBD/ Female/ Minority/EBC/Transgender categories will be entitled to get a full refund of their examination fees, which is INR 250. Whereas candidates belonging to General/EWS/OBC categories receive a partial refund of their examination fees, which is INR 400 after deducting the bank charges. While, filling the application form candidates need to provide the details of their bank accounts inorder to get the fee refund.

Candidates are allowed to modify all details except the chosen railway, email ID, and mobile number even after the submission of RRB Group D application form by paying the modification fee. Correction in data other than the railway, email and mobile number can be done by paying the modification fee of INR 100. The modification fee is applicable to all candidates including fee concession categories and this fee is not refundable for any category. To modify the community (SC/ST to your or OBC), candidates are required to pay INR 250 in addition of modification fee. The steps towards modifying the application form are given below: After final submission of RRB Group D application, in case the candidates wish to make minor changes to correct inadvertent errors in the application, the correction of data other than Railway, email and mobile number can be done by paying the modification fee of INR 100 (Non-Refundable) The modification fee shall be applicable to all candidates including fee concession categories and this fee is not refundable for any category. In the case of a candidate modifying his community from SC/ST to UR or OBC, he will have to pay the difference in examination fee i.e. INR 250 in addition to the modification fee. In case of failure to do so, the modified application will not be accepted Similarly, if a candidate is switching from Ex.SM/PwBD/Female/Transgender to UR/OBC(NCL)/Non Ex.SM/Non PwBD/Male etc., they will have to pay the difference in examination fee i.e. INR 250 in addition to the modification fee. RRB Group D 2025 Eligibility Criteria

RRBs had revised RRB Group D eligibility criteria for aspirants who wish to apply for the exam in future. The minimum education qualification for candidates applying to RRB Group D exam should be 10th pass or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.   1. A citizen of India, or
  2. A subject of Nepal, or
  3. A subject of Bhutan, or
  4. Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Q:   What is the physical efficiency test in the RRB Group D exam?

A:
Once candidates qualify for the computer-based tests of RRB Group D exam, then they are called for Physical Efficiency. Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory, and it is qualifying in nature. In PET, the male candidates should be to lift and carry 35 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down and should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance. In PET, the female candidates should be able to lift and carry 20 Kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down and should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance.

RRB Group D selection process comprises CBT, PET/PST, document verification and medical exam. The transgender candidates are given relaxation in the PET. CCAAs trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in their NCVT exam in preparation of final merit list after the conduct of CBT. Based on the performance of candidates in CBT subject to their qualifying in PER, candidates are called for document verification as per their merit and options. In case of two or more candidates secure same marks, their merit position is determined by age criteria i.e., older person is placed at higher merit and in case age is same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name is taken into account to break the tie. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and community certificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates. All candidates clearing the DV are called for medical exam. RRBs/RRCs only recommend names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered only by the respective Railway Administrations.

RRB Group D 2025 Exam Pattern

RRB Group D exam pattern 2025 comprises CBT, Document Verification and Medical Examination. According to the RRB Group D exam pattern, the CBT consists of sections, such as General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness and Current Affairs. The duration of CBTs is 90 minutes. For each correct answer in CBT, candidates score one mark. There is also negative marking for wrong answers, 1/3 marks are deducted for wrong answers. CBT is held in 15 languages besides English and Hindi. Candidates qualifying CBT exam are called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET). RRB Group D answer key is released for CBT exam. This is followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination. RRB Group D exam pattern of CBTs are given below.

Normalisation of Marks

Yes, there are qualifying marks in RRB Group D exam. The qualifying marks for your and EWS categories are 40 and 30 for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, and ST. These percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2 per cent for PwBD candidates in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them. Besides the cut off marks, candidates are required to secure the qualifying as per their categories to qualify the exam. For each correct answer in RRB Group D exam, candidates score one mark. 1/3 marks are deducted for wrong answers. The category-wise RRB Group D qualifying marks is given below.

Q:   What is percentile based marks calculation in RRB Group D exam?

A:

Percentile scores are scores based on the relative performance of all candidates who appear for the examination. The marks obtained are transformed into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each shift. The percentile score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored equal to or below (same or lower raw scores) that particular percentile in that examination. Therefore, the topper (the highest score) of each shift get the same percentile of 100 which is desirable. In percentitle-based normalisation, the marks obtained between the highest and the lowest scores are also converted to appropriate percentiles. In case of two or more candidates secure same normalised percentile score, their merit position is determined by age criteria.

RRB Group D Exam Day Guidelines

The exam day guidelines for RRB Group D exam are given below:

  • Candidates need to carry their RRB Group D admit card along with photo-identity proof to the examination centre

RRB  Group D cut off is the minimum qualifying marks which candidates need to secure inorder to qualify the exam and become eligible for the next round of selection process. RRB Group D cut off is released in PDF form and comprises the category-wise cut off marks. There are no sectional cut off marks in the exam. The examination authority releases overall cut off marks for the exam. Candidates securing equal to or more than the cut off marks are selected for the exam. Q:   Can I change my state in the RRB group D form?

A:

Yes, candidates can change their states in the RRB Group D exam. This can be done by first choosing 'Application Modification' which is available in the home page of the registration portal. After candidates have chosen the preferred state, they need to pay a non-refundable fee of INR 100 for modifying the application. Once candidates have successfully paid the application fee they can make the necessary changes and then submit it. Please note that candidates will not be able to edit your registration number, email id, mobile number, and your zone. Candidates are required to fill the application form online. The application fee is INR 500 (for all candidates except the fee concession categories). The fee for PwBD/Female /Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen/SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class is INR 250.

Q:   What benefits are given to CCAAs trained in railway establishment for RRB Group D exam?

A:

The CCAAs (Course Completed Act Apprentice) trained in railway establishment are given due weightage of marks obtained in National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) for preparation of the final merit list. Such candidates are exempted from PET/PST. Railways will give one-third weightage to the NCVT marks in preparation of RRB Group D final merit list after the conduct of CBT. Earlier, CCAAs had to appear for PET and the final merit list was prepared based on the marks obtained in CBT and PET subject to qualifying the document verification.

The official notice reads, “20 per cent of reservation in RRB Group D exam is given to CCAAs. In line with the provision contained under section 22 of Apprentice Act, CCAAs trained in the railway establishments may be given due weightage for the same such that one-third of the mark in preparation of the final merit list after the conduct of CBT shall be based on the marks obtained in their NCVT exam. They shall, however, be eligible for empanelment only after document verification and qualifying the medical standards. Such candidates will be exempted from PET since they are already trained in railway establishment and have gone through rigor working in Railways and have proved themselves in meeting the physical standard required for performing their jobs."

RRB Group D Salary

Candidates selected through the RRB Group D exam get a basic salary of INR 18,000 per month based on the seventh CPC pay matrix . Apart from the RRB Group D salary, candidates are also given additional allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), Daily Allowance, Transport Allowance, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Allowance for Night Duty, Medical Facilities, Overtime Allowance, etc. The in-hand salary of RRB Group Posts is INR 22,500-INR 25,380 per month.

The salary of Group D railway staff is decided by railway recruitment boards (RRBs). The RRB Group D Salary is part of the 7th Central Pay Commission's (CPC) Level 1 Salary. The salary structure of an Indian Railway Group-D staff is as follows: 1. The pay scale ranges between INR 5200 to INR 20200 2. The basic pay is INR 18,000. 3. The grade pay that Group D is entitled to is INR 1800. 4. They also receive House Rent Allowance, which varies by city and can range from 8% to 24%. 5. The dearness allowance of Group D is revised to INR 6,120. As a result, the starting salary for Group D staff at the junior level can be up to INR 27,920, excluding travel allowance.

Q:   What will be RRB Group salary after 10 years?

A:

RRB Group D salary after 10 years increases upto INR 25,000 depending upon various factors. Candidates' salary is revised on the basis of 39 per cent DA allowances and the salary after five years jumps to INR 15,000 at least, depending on their pay band and the city they are posted in. Intially, the salary package of RRB Group D ranges between INR 3 to 5 lakh. Candidates also get various perks and allowances as a part of RRB Group D salary.

RRB Group D is a level-1 job while RRB NTPC (non-technical popular categories) is a level 2 to 7 job. The basic salary of candidates selected through RRB Group D is INR 18,000. RRB NTPC salary is different for different posts. The starting basic salary range offered to undergraduate posts is INR 19,900 to 21,700. While, the graduate post employees are offered RRB NTPC salary in the range of INR 25,500 to IBR 35,400. For eg: the monthly basic RRB NTPC salary for Junior Clerk cum Typist is INR 19,900 while it is INR 35,400 for Station Master and Commercial Apprentice. The posts announced under RRB Group D are Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Helper/Assistant in various technical departments (Electrical, Mechanical and S&T departments), Pointsman. The posts announced under RRB NTPC are Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice, and Station Master.

The CBT of RRB Group D exam comprises four sections-General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning and General Awareness and Current Affairs. Total marks allotted to CBT are 100. Based on the marks obtained in CBT, candidates are called for PET. The PET is qualifying in nature. Those who qualify the PET are called for document verification. Final empanellment of candidates is done based on the performance in CBT subject to their qualifying the document verification and medical exam.
