RRB NTPC 2024: Application Status (SOON), Admit Card, Exam Dates, Syllabus & Pattern

RRB NTPC exam will be conducted separately for graduate and undergraduate posts. The level of difficulty will be different for graduate and undergraduate posts. The exam comprises subjects such as General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence, and Reasoning. The language of the paper will be set in Hindi, English, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu.

RRB NTPC application form 2024 was released on September 14, 2024 for Graduate posts. Interested candidates could apply till October 20, 2024. RRB NTPC application form 2024 for undergraduate posts was available from September 21 to October 27, 2024. Candidates who will fulfil the eligibility criteria can apply online for the exam. The link to fill the application form is made available on the official website. However, we will provide the direct link to fill the application form. The application fees can be paid online and offline. The steps to fill the application form are given below.

RRB NTPC 2024 application status 2024 will be released soon. Candidates can check their application status by logging with the required credentials. The application status will show whether the candidate's online form has been accepted or rejected. If the form gets rejected, the examination authority will also provide the reson for rejection.

RRB NTPC exam pattern and selection process has been revised for graduate and undergraduate posts. The revision in the exam pattern has been done in the second stage CBT. The second stage CBT has been made common for all the levels for graduate and undergraduate posts. The revised exam pattern is given below.

RRB NTPC notification 2024 has been released. The short notification was released on September 2, 2024.  The notification is released to select candidates for various graduate and undergraduate posts. The posts announced under RRB NTPC exam are Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice and Station Master. RRB NTPC notification is released in PDF. The notification PDF comprises details such as important dates, application process, selection process, exam pattern, syllabus, exam day guidelines, etc. Candidates must read the notification carefully before applying for the exam.

RRB NTPC 2024 age limit has been revised by RRBs. The revised age limit is 18 to 36 years for Graduate posts. The revised age limit for undergraduate posts is 18 to 33 years. The educational qualification prescribed for graduate posts is graduation, whereas, it is Class 12 pass for undergraduate posts.

RRB NTPC vacancies are announced depending upon the requirements of the concerned departments in Indian Railways. The exam is conducted for recruitment to the post of Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice, and Station Master. The selection of Station Master and Traffic Assistant comprises CBT 1, 2, CBAT, document verification, and medical exam. The selection of Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, and Senior Time Keeper comprises CBT 1, 2, Typing Skill Test, document verification, and medical exam. The selection process for the post of Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice comprises CBT 1, 2 followed by document verification and medical examination. 

The full form of NTPC is Non Technical Popular Categories. This exam is conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board to appoint candidates as Commercial Apprentice, Goods guard, Traffic Apprentice, Traffic Assistant, Assistant Station Master, etc. All over India. The eligibility criteria prescribed for RRB NTPC is given below: Age limit: The age limit for undergraduate posts is 18 to 30 years. The age limit for graduate posts is 18 to 33 years. Educational qualification: For undergraduate posts, candidates must have passed Class 12. RRB NTPC Salary Railway Recruitment Board decides RRB NTPC salary structure. The basic pay of RRB NTPC Junior Clerk cum Typist is INR 19900 per month. RRB conducts the RRB NTPC exam to recruit candidates for various vacancies in the Indian Railways. 

Applicants must possess a Gazette Notification or relevant legal documentation for name changes and be prepared to present it upon request during the recruitment process. The same should be submitted at the time of DV. Applicants should also have to fill the original name and the changed name during ‘Create an Account’. In such cases, both the names will be reflected in the application

Click on the 'Forgot Password' option on the login page. Enter either your registered email or mobile number along with your date of birth. The revised password will be sent to the candidate's registered email address. Candidates must then login using the revised password sent to their registered email. After logging in, Candidates then can create a new password by accessing the 'Change Password' option available on the upper right-hand side of the online application page. 

RRB NTPC Full Form is Railway Recruitment Board Non-Technical Popular Categories. RRBs conduct the exam to recruit candidates as Commercial Apprentice, Goods Guard, Station Master, and many other posts across India. The exam is conducted in 15 languages which are English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Candidates cannot change the chosen RRB for RRB NTPC exam. Therefore, candidates are advised to exercise the options for RRBs carefully. Selection of candidates will be done as per the vacancies allotted for the selected RRB. 

RRBs reject the RRB NTPC application form if the photographs of candidates are not valid. The photograph should be in JPEG format and the size of photograph should be between 30-70KB. Candidates are advised to upload their photographs correctly to avoid rejection in the application form. The photograph should be uploaded as per the specifications prescribed by the examination authority. The reasons for rejection of RRB NTPC application are given below:

• Invalid photos on account of Black and White photo, photo with cap or wearing Goggles. Photos which are disfigured, small size, full body, showing only one side view of the face, unrecognizable photos, photostatcopy of photo, group photo,
  selfie photo, photo taken by mobile, morphed photo and online application without photo among others.
  Signature in capital/block letters
• Not possessing the prescribed qualification for the post(s) as on the closing date of registration
• Over-aged or under-aged or Date of Birth wrongly filled
• Multiple applications to different RRBs or to same RRB. In such case, all applications will be rejected and such candidates will be debarred from future RRB/RRC exams
• Candidate's name figuring in the debarred list of any RRB/RRC
• Incomplete or incorrectly filled application
• Any other irregularities which are observed and considered as invalid by RRB

Candidates should submit only one application for RRB NTPC exam. If candidates submit multiple application forms then their applications will be rejected. Candidates are required to apply online for the exam. The application fee for all candidates except the fee concession categories is INR 500 whereas it is INR 250 for PwBD/Female/Transgender/ Ex-Servicemen/SC/ST/Minority Communities/ Economically Backward Class.

RRB NTPC age limit for candidates applying for the undergraduate level posts should be 18 to 33 years. The age limit for graduate-level posts is 18 to 36 years. Candidates belonging to the reserved categories are given relaxation in the age limit as per government rule. This facility is available only to SC/ST candidates. While filling up online RRB NTPC application form, such candidates, should choose ‘Yes’ from the drop down under ‘Do you wish to avail free rail travel pass for the exam and fill up ‘Nearest Railway Station’. It is the responsibility of the candidates availing free travel authority to give the correct name of the Railway Station in online application, failing which their travel authority may get rejected while obtaining reservation. They are also required to upload their Caste Certificate. 

Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe only can avail ‘Free Travel Authority’ (free Railway Pass). For availing the travel pass, candidates need to provide proper documents to the examination authority.

There are two stage Computer Based Test (CBTs) followed by Computer based Aptitude Test (CBAT)/ Typing Skill Test (TST) wherever applicable. The Computer based Aptitude Test for Station Master and the Typing Skill Test is held for Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist. For Goods Train Manager, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, there is only two stage CBTs followed by document verification and medical examination. RRB wise short listing of candidates for 2nd Stage CBT is done at the rate of 15 times the vacancies. The short listing for Computer Based Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test is done to the extent of 8 times the vacancies (may increase or decrease as per the requirement of Railway Administration) based on the merit of the candidates in 2nd Stage CBT. When a candidate is qualified in 1st stage CBT & shortlisted for subsequent stages as OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwBD he/she will continue to be.

RRB NTPC admit card is released four days before the exam. The admit card is released on the region-wise official websites of RRBs. To download the admit card, candidates are required to enter user ID and password. The hard copy of the admit card is not sent to candidates by post. Prior to the release of admit card, the city intimation slip is released 10 days before the exam. RRB NTPC admit card is an important document without which candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam. RRB NTPC admit card comprises details such as the candidate's name, roll number, registration number, date of birth, login ID, password, exam day guidelines, scanned photograph and signature, etc. Candidates are advised to retain their admit cards till the completion of the recruitment process.

RRB NTPC admit card for CBT is released online on the region-wise official websites of RRBs. The admit card for PET, document verification and medical exam is released by the Railway Recruitment Cells. Candidates can download their admit cards by logging with user ID and password. RRB NTPC application status is released few days after the declaration of the result. Candidates can check your application status of RRB NTPC with the direct link from the RRB Zone candidates have applied for. To check your status candidates need their Registration Number and Date of Birth. On this portal candidates can check whether their application form has been accepted or rejected. Only those candidates will be issued RRB NTPC admit card whose application forms were accepted.

SC/ST candidates who opt for free travel facility, RRB NTPC call letter for CBT, CBAT/TST, DV contains information regarding the free travel authority. Such candidates are allowed to book their tickets after they submit a self-attested photocopy of the RRB NTPC admit card and SC/ST Certificate. Candidates need to download their admit cards online. To download the admit card, candidates need to enter user ID and password. RRB NTPC admit card is an important document for the exam without which candidates are not given entry to the examination centre. Candidates need to carry their admit cards along with one photo-identity proof to the exam centre. RRB NTPC admit card carries important information related to the exam. 

The Railway Recruitment Board prescribes RRB NTPC syllabus for CBT 1 and 2. The syllabus is mentioned in the official recruitment notification. The exam is conducted to select candidates for various posts such as Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Station Master, etc in the Indian Railways. The total duration of the test will be 10 minutes. Candidates are required to type 30 word per minute in English and 25 word per minute in Hindi. Editing and spell check facility are disabled on the computer.

For General Knowledge section of RRB NTPC you need to cover Current Events of National and International Importance, Indian Literature, History, Polity, Geography, Economics, etc. The weightage given to this section in CBT 1 is 40 and in CBT 2 is 50. RRB NTPC syllabus for Reasoning include questions from verbal and non-verbal Reasoning. The board prescribes RRB NTPC syllabus to evaluate the analytical, critical and logical reasoning skills of candidates applying for various non-technical posts. It also helps in evaluating the problem-solving ability and decision-making skills of candidates. Candidates who are well-versed in Reasoning inorder to score high marks in this section. For RRB NTPC General Intelligence and Reasoning section, candidates need to prepare Coding and Decoding, Analytical Reasoning, Data Sufficiency, Decision Making, Puzzle, etc. This section carries 30 questions in CBT 1 and 35 in CBT 2. Candidates should practice mock tests and previous years’ question papers to ace this section.

Yes, there is a minimum qualifying cut off in RRB NTPC exam. The minimum qualifying marks for CBT 1 and 2 for General, EWS categories is 40 per cent, for OBC and SC is 30 per cent and for ST category is 25 per cent. In CBAT, candidates are required to secure a minimum T-score of 42 marks. Besides, cut off marks, candidates are also required to secure the qualifying marks as per their categories. Candidates need to secure the qualifying marks in CBTs and CBAT inorder to qualify the exam. The CBT 1 comprises questions from General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The total marks allotted to the CBT 1 are 100. The CBT 2 comprises questions from General Questions Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. Total marks allotted to the test are 120.

The first stage CBT of RRB NTPC comprises questions from General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The test paper carries a total of 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions. The first stage CBT is qualifying in nature. The test carries 100 marks. The exam is held for 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates accompanied by scribe). The structure of RRB NTPC exam pattern for CBT 1 is given below.

The instructions related to RRB NTPC Typing Test are given below:

• The candidates are required to type at least 300 words in English or 250 words in Hindi
• The candidates will have to type in English or Hindi, as per option exercised by them on RRB websites. English will be the Typing Language for those who have not exercised their option Candidates who have opted Hindi for Typing Test must be familiar with the usage of Krutidev or Mangal font
• The exam session consists of three parts as Typing practice for one minute to warm up & familiarize with key board,  Break of 30 seconds and Typing Test for 10 minutes which will be taken for evaluation
• As the skill test is to determine the speed, candidates who have completed the passage can retype passage from the beginning within the duration of test i.e. 10 minutes. Candidates who do not type the whole passage at least once in 10 minutes will be treated as disqualified. The transcripts of those candidates who do not type 300 words in English or 250 words in Hindi within the prescribed time will not be evaluated
• The evaluation of the passage typed by the candidate will be done as follows:
• The mistakes will be classified as full mistakes and half mistakes. 5 per cent mistakes of the total words typed may be ignored. Accordingly, the total number of mistakes will be calculated as under:

1. No. of full mistakes + No. of half mistakes/2 = Total Mistakes
2. Number of mistakes – 5 per cent of total number of words typed = Final count of mistakes

• The typing speed of the candidate will be worked out by the following formula:
• Typing Speed= No. of total words typed – (Final count of mistake x 10)/Time 
• For example: If a candidate types a total number of 400 words in 10 minutes and commits 10 final count of mistakes, his speed would be worked out as follows:

1. 400- (10x10)/10= 300/10 = 30 w.p.m

• The minimum speed should be 30 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi

RRB NTPC answer key will be released online on the region-wise official websites of RRBs. We will also provide the region-wise RRB NTPC answer key links after it is released. To download the answer key, candidates need to enter user ID and password. Candidates can use the answer keys to check the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam. Using the answer key, candidates can calculate the probable scores asked in the exam by knowing the correct and incorrect answers.

The raw score of RRB NTPC CBT 1 exam is computed as below:

• Total questions - 100
• No of questions ignored (question wrong, multiple options correct, etc.): 2
• No of questions attempted: 60
• No of questions attempted correctly: 54
• No. of wrongly answers: 6
• Positive marks: 54
• Negative marks: 2
• Net score: 54-2=52
• Score out of 100: (52/98)*100= 53.06
• Raw score= 53.06

The cut off of RRB NTPC is released for the following stages:

RRB NTPC Cut off for CBT 1

RRB NTPC CBT 1 cut off is released based on the marks scored in General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. The cutoff for CBT 1 is calculated out of 100 marks. 

RRB NTPC Cut off for CBT 2

RRB NTPC CBT 2 cut off is calculated out of 120 marks. Candidates who will secure RRB NTPC Cut off in CBT 2 are shortlisted for document verification, Typing Skill Test/Computer-based Aptitude Test (CBAT) (As per the posts).

RRB NTPC Cut off for CBAT

This stage is conducted for Station Master (SM)/Traffic Assistant (TA) posts. Candidates eight times the number of vacancies based on their performance in CBT 2 are shortlisted for this stage. The qualifying marks prescribed for this stage are 42 which candidates need to secure in each test battery. To shortlist candidates for document verification, the examination authority will fix the cut-off marks for this stage.

RRB NTPC Cut off for Typing Skill Test (TST)

The typing skill test is conducted for Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper, Typing Skill Test (TST) posts. To qualify for this stage, candidates need to secure the cutoff marks.

RRB NTPC Cut off  for Document Verification

Candidates are called for document verification based on their performance in CBT 2 and CBAT/TST (as per the posts). The examination authority decides RRB NTPC Cut off marks to call candidates for document verification. Candidates clearing the document verification are called for Medical Fitness Test.

RRB NTPC Result

RRB NTPC result is declared online on the official websites of RRBs. The result is made available in PDF format and comprises the roll numbers of qualified candidates. The scorecard is made available along with the result and candidates can download it by logging with the user ID and password. 

RRB NTPC cut off is calculated based on the normalised scores. This process is followed to adjust the difficulty level of questions since the exam is conducted in multiple sessions. The scores are normalised using the equi-percentile method. For eg: If the negative marking is 1/3 and candidates have answered 80 questions, out of which 12 were wrong, then the raw score will be 80-12-12 * (1/3) = 64. Therefore, 64 is the raw score.

The Computer-Based Aptitude Test is conducted for Station Master and Traffic Assistant while Typing Skill Test is held for Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper. The shortlisting for Skill Tests such as the Computer-based Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test is done 8 times the number of vacancies based on the merit of second stage CBT. The candidates need to secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This applies to all candidates irrespective of community or category and no relaxation in the minimum T- Score is permissible. The CBAT will have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi There will be no negative marking in CBAT. Merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in CBAT.

RRB NTPC cut off is calculated based on the following factors:

• The number of candidates appearing in the exam plays a major role in deciding the cutoff marks. If the number of candidates appearing in the exam is high, then the cutoff increases
• The difficulty level of the exam is another determining factor for RRB NTPC cutoff marks evaluation. If the exam is difficult, then the cutoff is low
• The number of vacancies decides the zone-wise cutoff marks. If the number of vacancies in a particular zone of RRB is more, then the cutoff marks are low

The selection of Station Master and Traffic Assistant comprises CBT 1, 2, CBAT, document verification, and medical exam. The selection of Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, and Senior Time Keeper comprises CBT 1, 2, Typing Skill Test, document verification, and medical exam. The selection process for the post of Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice comprises CBT 1, 2 followed by document verification and medical examination.

RRB NTPC admit card is released on the region-wise official websites of RRBs. You need to download their admit cards from the region they have applied for. To download the admit card, you need to enter user ID and password. The hard copy of the admit card is not sent to you.
