GATE General aptitude syllabus is based on intermediate level general understanding to test aptitude of candidates. However, Engineering mathematics and chosen subject's syllabus will be of graduation level. A candidates must expect good undergraduate level question from the syllabus in the GATE exam.

The distribution of questions in all papers except AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, XH, and XL, the marking distribution is as follows - General Aptitude (15), Engineering Mathematics (13 marks), and Subject-specific (72).

The distribution of questions in AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH, XH, and XL is as follows - General Aptitude (15) and Subject-specific (85).

Q:   When will VITEEE 2025 be conducted?

A:

VITEEE 2025 exam dates have been announced. The authorities will conduct VITEEE 2025 tentatively from April 21 to 27, 2025. The candidates will have to select their preferred slot. VITEEE 2025 application form has to be submitted before the final date for the eligible candidates to be registered for the examination. VIT 2025 will be held as a computer-based test.

Q:   How is JEE Main conducted, online or offline?

A:

National Testing Agency conducts JEE Main exam in online mode as a computer based test. JEE Main exam is conducted for three different courses; B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Plan. The exam for B.Tech and B. Plan is completely online while the exam for B.Arch is partially online and drawing part is conducted offline. The exam is held across various test cities in India and abroad.

Q:   How many times in a year is the GATE exam conducted?

A:

GATE exam is conducted only once a year to offer admissions to master's and PhD programs at top institutions, such as IITs and NITs. Qualifying GATE exam also paves the way for technical jobs in in PSUs. This year, IIT Roorkee is conducting the GATE 2025 exam on Feb 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025 in two sessions - morning and afternoon.

Q:   How many months are required to prepare for MHT CET exam?

A:

The time-period required to complete the MHT CET preparation varies. Every student has their own pace of study. Ideally, 3-month time is good enough for completing the MHT CET preparation. Students who have started preparing from class 11 or 12 can easily prepare for MHT CET in 6 months considering the topics of CET syllabus have already been studied in class 11 and 12.

MHT CET preparation is most effective with class 11 and 12 as almost 90-95 percent topics are similar in both exams. This way students can easily complete the entire MHT CET syllabus as well as syllabus of class 11 and 12. After the board exams, students get 2-3 month time where they can focus entirely on MHT CET.

Students who have started late for the MHT CET exam can make a 6-month plan where in the first three months they have to focus on revising the syllabus studied in class 11 and 12. In the next two months’ focus on solving questions of MHT CET and analyzing the mistakes being made, if any. The last one month should be focused on solving mock tests and MHT CET previous year question papers

Q:   What all work do Mechatronics Engineering professionals do?

A:

Mechatronics engineers with more inclination towards the mechanical field use CAD software paired with the mechanical know-how to carefully draft, simulate, and actualize every machine of today. The CAD simulates the 3-D model projects, enabling engineers to visually grasp their designs, collect it, and determine how the device reacts under various conditions and loads.

Mechatronics-Electrical engineers, on the other hand, look after the circuitry, where they design the electromagnetic conversions and highways that send signals to the robotic arms, for instance. They make the finalized circuit boards for a variety of electronic and mechanical devices. Mechatronics engineers who enter into the computer industry, look after the computer software systems and their overall working.

Imagine the passion project come to life after going through the turbulent phases of design to being tested and getting the stamp of approval. Sounds quite exciting!

Q:   What are the jobs one can pursue after completing Mechatronics Engineering?

A:

An Mechatronics engineer will easily get a job in various domains such as Research and Development, Manufacturing and Production. Some of the job profiles are as follows:

  • Computer System Analyst
  • Researcher
  • Supervisor
  • Robotics Test Engineer
  • Application Engineer

Q:   What are the disadvantages of Mechatronics Engineering?

A:

Along with the good part of the field, there is a downside as well. Mechatronics Engineering jobs can be very stressful. As the engineering jack of all trades, mechatronics engineers can be held responsible for communicating with all types of other engineers and integrating everyone's work together. Doing that and making sure that all of the systems work cohesively can be very tiresome.

Further, the university expectations make the undergraduate degree course quite tough for students as it is a mixture of Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Science Engineering concepts and practices, which requires a very determined and creative individual. Moreover, there could be negative implications of creating a wrong robot that could be harmful in the future hence, one needs to be very mindful of what they create.

Q:   What is the job role of Mechatronics Engineer?

A:

Mechatronics Engineering graduates are involved in problems related to computers and software systems, actively managing and driving the technical evaluation of sales process and using their skills in electric, electrical and mechanical systems and assisting senior level engineers in the production and development of automated equipment.

Q:   Is mechatronics engineering a good field?

A:
Mechatronics is a field that can be considered relatively recent when compared to the various subcategories of engineering (even though it's been around for over 40 years). It is basically is a design process and new form of engineering that includes a combination of mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, control and computer engineering. So, the first thing that comes to anyone's head when thinking of mechatronics is a robot. Robots are the pinnacle of mechatronics engineering and to a certain extent correctly represent what mechatronics is all about. It's a lot of electronics and computer engineering implemented to control a mechanical system. It involves design and manufacturing the actual system, coding micro controllers or PLCs to achieve a certain kind of output and a lot of modeling, dynamics and control of electromechanical systems. It's a huge field. Here's a bunch of applications I picked up from Wikipedia: Machine Vision, Automation and Robotics, Servo-Mechanics, Sensing and Control Systems, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Equipment in the Design of Subsystems such as Anti-lock Braking Systems, Computer-machine controls, such as computer-driven machines like IE, CNC, Milling Machines, Expert Systems, Industrial Goods, Consumer Products, Mechatronics Systems, Medical Mechatronics, Medical Imaging Systems, Structural Dynamic Systems Transportation and Vehicular Systems. Mechatronics as the new language of the automobile computer aided and integrated manufacturing systems, Computer-aided Design, Engineering and Manufacturing Systems, Packaging and Microcontrollers/PLCs. Coming to the point as to whether you should do it, well that depends on how committed you are to this field. Since it's a specialisation in a way, you should be kinda certain that this is what you want. If you're uncertain, I'd suggest you take up mechanical or electrical separately and probably do a Masters in it later if you're sure. Mechatronics is one of the most sought after and most interesting fields there is in the world with a wide range of application. It's literally going to everywhere within the next few years. So, it's definitely something an engineer would want to be a part of.
