Hi Aatish! The major difference is, a Textile Designer creates the pattern, designs for fabric and also develops fabric. The textile designers also do embellishment of fabrics. They have to select yarn, colour for the yarn, and dyes for making new fabrics. The Fashion designers, on the other hand, use the fabric developed by the textile designer to create new designs for clothes.
Their imagination sees a design, they sketch it with colors on the paper and then give shape to their imagination by selecting fabric for the making new designed clothes. Both have a vast career scope. Now that you must have understood the difference between the two, you can take your call according to your area of interest.
It depends on the level of the Textile Design course you choose. Though it is not mandatory for candidates to have good drawing or sketching skills, having a basic knowledge of it is a must to grow and learn better. Nowadays, students are also inclined towards 3D Modelling, CAD software, Adobe, and other editing tools as well.
