West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) is the responsible authority that conducts WBJEE exam as an annual examination. Through WBJEE, candidates are selected for admissions into BTech courses offered by participating Government and Self-financing institutes of the state. What is WBJEE?
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, also known as WBJEE is conducted as a state level exam by WBJEEB authorities. WBJEE is held annually to select candidates for admission into undergraduate courses offered at state universities, government colleges and self-financing engineering & technical institutions. For admission, candidates have to qualify entrance examination. JEE Main qualified candidates who meet basic eligibility can apply for admission through WBJEE counselling.
How is WBJEE exam conducted?
WBJEE is conducted as an offline test. During exam, candidates have to answer questions in OMR sheet provided by authorities. Candidates have to attempt all 155 questions from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Overall, questions will be from 11th and 12th standard syllabus. To be eligible for admission, candidates have to qualify WBJEE with valid scores.
WBJEE Paper Timings
WBJEE is held as two papers - Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). Both papers will be held in one day and candidates will have to attempt both to qualify for BTech admission. Candidates can check paper timings for WBJEE exam below.

WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2026: Qualifications, Age, Domicile Requirements
Official WBJEE 2026 eligibility criteria has been released. Candidates should know eligibility criteria before registering for entrance examination. Candidates who do not meet eligibility norms will not be considered for admission into the participating institutes of state. Criteria might vary for different courses and at institute level.
Eligibility criteria for appearing in WBJEE 2026

- Candidate must be an Indian citizen
Age restriction
- Candidate must be at least 17 years of age as of admission year. There is no upper age limit for appearing in exam.
- However, for admission to Marine Engineering Course, lower age limit is 17 years as of December 31, 2026, and upper age limit is 25 years as of December 31, 2026.

WBJEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Admissions
- Candidates should have passed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of listed below subjects as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all three subjects in regular class mode.

- Must have secured a minimum of 45 per cent marks (40 per cent in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.

- The Board of Qualifying Examination must be recognised by Central Government or State Government concerned.

At WBJEE exam centre, students will have to bring a print out of their admit card and one original valid identity proof. If students do not have these documents with them at centre, then they will not be allowed to enter and attempt examination.
WBJEEB will announce WBJEE 2026 toppers. Highest scoring students will be given top ranks in WBJEE 2026. In previous year, Aniruddha Chakrabarti secured first rank in WBJEE, followed by Samyajyoti Biswas and Dishaanth Basu in second and third rank. List of the top 10 rankers in WBJEE 2026 will be released by authorities.
After the seats are allotted, students will have to pay seat acceptance fee of INR 5000 online to download allotment letter. Next, they will have to report to their respective college for document verification and tuition fee payment.
WBJEE syllabus should be studied entirely to have a good chance of scoring high marks. Since question paper will be prepared using syllabus, they can expect any topic or concept to be used for questions.
WBJEE final answer key will be prepared after objections against the provisional key are checked. To prepare result, final WBJEE answer key will be used. The authorities will not accept any objections against final key.
WBJEE result will not be sent through post or email. Students will have to log in with their roll number and password to check and download WBJEE result. They can download result in form of a rank card.
WBJEE cutoff consists of opening and closing ranks that are required for admission. Cutoff varies as per course, college and category selected by students for admission. Round wise cutoff is released online during WBJEE seat allotment.
WBJEE 2026 seat allotment dates have not been announced yet. Students will have to log in to check their allotment status and to download the allocation letter for the admission process. Separate allotment results will be announced for the different rounds of counselling.
The WBJEE seat acceptance fee is INR 5000 (refundable). To download the seat allotment letter, the students will have to pay the fee online, i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card. If the fee is not paid, then they students will not be able to move forward with the admission confirmation process.
WBJEE mock tests and sample papers are important to help students work on their time management. Solving mock tests and sample papers will help them know how to divide their time for each section so that they complete the exam on time. Students should include mock tests in their daily exam preparation plan.

Students with valid JEE Main scores can apply for admissions through WBJEE counselling. However, these students will be eligible for allotment only in 10% approved seats offered by self financing colleges and institutes participating in state level counselling.
WBJEE is mostly held in 47 examination zones in the various cities of West Bengal. However, the exam is also conducted in Assam (Silchar) and Tripura (Agartala). For the exam, the students will have to fill out three zones as per the preference.
WBJEE 2026 dates have been announced online at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee. Students are advised to stay updated with the official dates so that they do not miss any important event in the admission process. All deadlines have to be met to be participate in the examination and admission events.
WBJEE application correction facility will be open for all registered candidates. Online facility can be used to edit/correct details submitted in application form. However, students will not be able to edit all information. Since correction facility is a one-time facility, students are advised to be careful while making the corrections.
For WBJEE admissions, there is an age limit. Students have to be minimum 17 years old during the admission year. There is no upper age limit. However, for Marine Engineering course, there is an upper age limit of 25 years.
WBJEE cutoff is released online. It is prepared after checking different exam and admission related factors. Some important factors that are considered to determine cutoff are entrance exam difficulty level, previous years' cutoff trends, number of seats for admission, total number of applicants and more.
WBJEEB will not release official WBJEE mock test online. To prepare for exam, candidates can check official question papers. If released, authorities will announce details of mock test at official website.
