These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.

Primarily, we are getting ready for the final exam because now we have enough time to complete the syllabus. The students could make the timetable and allocate time to each subject and prepare for the exams accordingly.

Difference between online and offline classes

Secondly, the main difference between online and offline class is the location of the class. There is a disadvantage of online classes that student might not be mentally present in the online class which is not the case in offline classes. The teacher could read the student`s mind in the classrooms. Also, now more students are participating in the online classes as compared to the offline classes.

Pros and cons of offline and online classes

Both online and offline classes have pros and cons but in my opinion, online classes are better because there is no need for student and teacher to visit the college. I prefer online classes as it saves time and we can say it is an inexpensive mode of learning. The students and teachers can manage their time as the class could be conducted at any time in the afternoon or evening. Also, there is no need for equipment like desks, chairs, board, etc. There are some advantages of offline classes too, like, the teacher gives personal attention to all the students and keeps an eye on the performance of each student in the classroom. They could also check the activities or answering abilities of students in offline classes.

How to utilise these days

Apart from studying most of the time, I am also learning cooking through YouTube. The students could learn something new from the internet, for example, they could learn French language, dancing, or any such activity which they are interested in. They could also gain knowledge of history or any subject through YouTube channel or the internet. They could learn how to make various presentations, etc.

Examination preparation and dates

As per the government, the lockdown might be extended but students should be prepared for the exams. Therefore, the students should make most of this time and prepare for their upcoming exams.

Online coaching institution for competitive exams

Well, I am planning for competitive exams, however, the students could also prepare for various competitive exams. Many institutions or coaching centres are providing taking online classes for students. The teachers are conducting classes through online apps like Zoom. Yes, we are attending the online classes now and making the productive use of the time in hand.
