CA exams (Nov 24, 25) have been postponed in some cities of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in view of heavy rains due to the Nivar cyclone.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has rescheduled the CA November exams for the students hailing from cities in the Nivar cyclone-hit areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The exams scheduled on November 24 and 25 will now be conducted on December 9 and 11.

The official notification regarding rescheduling of CA exams in cyclone-hit said, “It is hereby notified for general information that in view of heavy rains due to the Nivar cyclone and consequent disruption of normal life in some cities in the state of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry (UT), the Chartered Accountants exams scheduled to be held on November 24 and 25, in Chennai, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram, Karaikudi, Kumbakonam, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai, Tiruvallur & Villupuram and Puducherry (UT) stand rescheduled.”

The Intermediate and IPC exams will be held on December 9 and the Final (old and new syllabus) exams will be held on December 11. There is no change in the exam timing and the CA admit cards already issued to students who were supposed to take the exams in the above-mentioned cities would remain valid for the rescheduled date. “It is clarified that the schedule of examinations of all other cities shall remain unchanged,” said the ICAI.

The postponed CA exams include:

  • Intermediate (integrated professional competence) exam Group-I, Paper– 2
  • Business laws, ethics and communication and intermediate exam (Group-I, Paper – 2
  • Final (Old) exam (Group I), Paper – 3
  • Final (New) exam (Group I) Paper – 3

The ICAI November 2020 exams are being conducted from November 21 to December 14. A total of 4,71,619 students are appearing for the CA exams across 1,085 exam centers.  About 1,52,000 students are estimated to appear for the exams on a single day and the average comes to 147 students per exam centre.

However, in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic and related difficulties, ICAI offered ‘opt out’ option to students who do not wish to appear for the exam this month.  About 31,000 students opted out of November exams. They will be allowed to take the exam in January 2021. ICAI has announced that next year, the exams will commence from January 21 in all cities. It will release the complete schedule later.
