K PB Hinduja College of Commerce was established in 1974 by late Shri Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja, who was well known for his philanthropy and mercantile activities. He believed in setting aside a portion of the profits from his businesses for charitable activities, especially in the field of education and healthcare, which he considered to be the fundamental right of every human being. This concern led him to establish the Smt P D Hinduja Trust in 1944 under whose aegis the Hinduja College was established. The institution functions under the guidance of the Hinduja Foundation.

The courses offered here are BCom and BMS (bachelor of management studies), BCom in banking and insurance, BMM (bachelor of mass media) and BAF (bachelor of accounting finance). It also offers courses at the postgraduate level - MCom (financial markets). There is also MBA and BCA courses. Hinduja College stands out for its department of business administration. Recently, some new courses have been introduced for cyber law and CFP (certified financial planning). Various scholarship programmes for students are also on offer.

Candidates applying for courses here need to fill an application form followed by an entrance test.

Infrastructure and other activities

The college has a well-equipped library and a computer lab with more than 100 computers. All classrooms have an arrangement for audio visual presentations, have projectors installed and are also air conditioned. The placement cell has tie ups with various companies such as TCS, Infotech and Wipro. Along with NSS, the Rotaract Club also operates from this college, organising cultural and social campaigns such as cleanliness drives. It organises treks as well. There is a student council that addresses any grievances.

The college's sports teams have represented it at state and national levels in throwball, cricket and table tennis. Though the college does not have its own playground, the students have access to the large University Ground at Marine Lines which is within walking distance.
