COVID-19 Guidelines for CA Candidates

The ICAI CA exams are being conducted with COVID-19 guidelines since 2020. The ICAI has issued guidelines for students to follow at the exam centre. The ICAI CA 2022 exams are being conducted at multiple exam centres in over 190 cities across India. The CA Foundation, Intermediate and Final exams are also held in eight overseas cities - Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Kampala (Uganda), Kathmandu, Kuwait and Muscat.

COVID-19 Guidelines for CA Candidates

  • Candidate must reach their CA exam centre on the reporting time mentioned on their admit card to avoid any crowding at the centre at the time of entry and to maintain social distancing.
  • All candidates must ensure that they are not suffering from COVID-19 disease or do not have any symptom of it. If they feel unwell, they should not come to the exam centre.
  • Candidates need to maintain social distancing from each other at all the time during the course of examination.
  • The candidates must not report to the exam hall before 1:00 PM. They must carry a transparent bottle of drinking water and 50/100 ml bottle of hand sanitizer and their ICAI CA 2021 admit cards.
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any electronic item such as mobile phones and smart watch inside the exam hall. Books, notes and bags are also prohibited inside the exam hall.
  • At the entrance gate of the CA exam centre, thermal temperature scanning and sanitization of hands will be done. Candidates and other functionaries having body temperature of more than normal will not be allowed to enter the examination centre. However, their record will be maintained.
  • Candidates will be required to continue to wear face mask at all times and shall remove the same only at the time of their personal identification and signing of the attendance register. Candidates may ask the room invigilator to provide mask.
  • In case any candidate needs to use the washroom, they shall seek permission of hall/room invigilators for use of washrooms. They must sanitize their hands with the sanitizer made available by the centre outside the washroom.
  • All candidates are advised to co-operate with the exam centre staff for adherence to the COVID-19 and other guidelines during conduct of examinations.
  • All candidates must bring their own stationary as borrowing or lending of the same during the examination is strictly prohibited.
  • On completion of the CA exam, candidates will be permitted to move out in an orderly manner - one candidate at a time. Candidates must wait for instructions from invigilator and do not get up from the seat until advised.
  • The gloves and masks should be disposed in a pedal push covered bin at the examination centre and outside the examination room/hall only.
  • Required distance will be maintained during the exit process without crowding anywhere at all times.
  • Keeping in view the general conditions; the candidates who have completed their paper in time will be allowed to exit Exam Centre from 4.00 PM onwards.
  • While the CA admit card will be printed online the candidates have to give consent to follow various guidelines issued by the Governmental authorities as also the ICAI.
  • In case a candidate is minor; he/she carry an undertaking that he/she is appearing in the examination with the consent of parents/guardian. The format of undertaking is available with the CA admit card. The candidate must get the undertaking signed by the parents/guardian before the exam.

Q:   What is the fees for CA Final exam?

A:

The fees for CA Final course (New and Old Schemes) is INR 1,800 for single group and INR 3,300 for both groups. Candidates have to pay the fee at the time of online form submission. Candidates must submit the fee and application form before the deadline otherwise they will have to pay an additional amount of INR 600 as late fee. The fee is non-refundable. The fee payment is to be done through credit card, debit card or net banking. Unless the fee is paid, the course or exam application form will not be submitted. Candidate will receive acknowledgement in mail upon successful transaction.

Q:   How can I choose my test city for CA exam?

A:

The option to select test city for CA exam is given in the application form. The ICAI CA exam is held in over 180 cities across India. Candidates can select up to 3 cities as their preferred location. They have to select the city/cities of their choice in the form in order of 1-3. The test centre will be allotted to candidates as per their first preference and availability of seat. If the seat is already filled in the test centre of the city of first preference, the candidate will be allotted a test centre in the second city of preference.

Q:   What are the documents/items to carry at CA exam centre?

A:

CA candidates need to carry two copies of CA admit card (A4 size paper/colour printout), one photo ID (original), blue or black ballpoint pen and calculator to the examination centre. Candidates can carry Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID card, passport or driving license as the mandatory document for identification. They are also required to carry passport size photos to affix on the CA admit card. Entry without these documents will not be allowed.

Digital copy of the admit card or photo ID will not be accepted as valid at the examination centres, thus candidates must take print outs of their admit card as soon as they download it.

Q:   What is the timings of CA exams?

A:

The time duration of CA exams varies for each paper. Some CA exam papers are of two hours duration whereas some are of three hours duration. The ICAI CA exams are conducted from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The exam timings of every paper will be mentioned in the date sheet and the CA admit card of each candidate. Given below is the table indicating CA Foundation, Intermediate and Final exam timings:

Q:   Is there provision of rechecking or reevaluation in CA course exams?

A:

Yes, the candidates can apply for scorecard verification after the result announcement. The facility is available for all three course levels. The window for rechecking of a particular CA course opens a day after announcement of the result. Candidates can apply for scorecard verification within a month of result announcement along with a demand draft of INR 200 in favour of the Secretary, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, payable at New Delhi. The fee is non-refundable and the result of rechecking will be final. Students can’t apply for rechecking more than once.
