Instructions for appearing in ICSI Foundation Programme Examination
Check the important guidelines for foundation programme remote proctored and computer based examination that will be held on December 27 and 28, 2022.
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India will conduct the ICSI 2022 exam for the Foundation programme for the December session on December 27 and 28. Earlier this week, authorities issued the notice that the ICSI Foundation Programme examination will be conducted in both Remote Proctored (anywhere) mode. However, test-takers will be required to follow the important guidelines for the successful conduct of the examination. Any test taker found to be prohibiting the providing instruction will be disqualified.
ICSI CS 2022- Foundation Programme Examination Exam Pattern

Part 1- General Instructions
- Candidates must verify the details mentioned on the CS foundation admit card. Candidates must check for the following details- name, photograph, signature, admission number, date and timing of the examination. In case of any discrepancy candidates must contact at the support- http://support.icsi.edu.
- Conduct of exam in remote proctor referes to:
- Candidates will be required to download the SEBLite, Safe Exam Browser in their desktop or laptop as per the link provided.
- Applicants will be remotely proctored through video/audio by the invigilator/supervisor, known as proctor.
- Candidates must keep the following things ready before commencing the examination- admit card, student identity card issued by the Government departments, passport, driving license, PAN card, UID Aadhar card, Voter Card for the verification by remote proctors. Failing to get the documents, candidates will not be allowed to take the examination. No other document will be allowed to be kep except admit card and original identity document.
- Candidates must login 40 minutes before the given timing for exam. No candidate will be allowed to appear 30 minutes prior to the commencement. Candidate will be permitted to finish the exam until the expiry of 45 minutes.
- There will be 50 MCQs of two marks each in each paper. Candidates will be given 90 minutes for appearing two papers each day. (45 minutes in case of exemption of papers).
- Screen will display the question paper in both English and Hindi through toggle option except for Business Management, Ethics and Entrepreneurship that will be displayed in English only.
- .Candidates are not required to appear in the paper(s) in which they have been granted paper-wise exemption as shown in the CS Foundation 2022 Admit Card.
- Incase of any discrepancy it should be brought to the notice of the Directorate of student services of the Institute in writing to http://support.icsi.edu or mail at enroll@icsi.edu.
- Candidates are required to score minimum of 40% marks in each paper and 50% in aggragte to qualify. There will be no negative marking for any wrong answers.
- Candidates will not be allowed to keep any personal items such as mobile phones, wrist watches, study aids, photographic devices, etc with them.
- Candidates will permitted to use a calculator (12 digits, 6 functions, and 2 memories) and riugh sheets for Business Economics (BE) (Paper 413) and Fundamentals of Accounting and Auditing (FAA) (Paper 414). In case of violation candidates willnot be processed.

- Candidates are instructed to concentrate on examination and their eye focus hsll not go out of screen nor they will be allowed to leave the workstation for any purpose including bio breaks during the duration.
- No person other than the test taker shall be present in the room. ANy candidate found talking/consulting/whispering with other person or attemping to copy or take help from study mateials will treated as adoption of unfair means.
- Candidates’ eligibility to appear in the CS Foundation Programme Examination shall be subject to the provisions of the Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982.
- No eatables are allowed during the examination.
Part 2- Instructions for appearing in Foundation programme examination through remote proctored mode

Other important requirements:
- Candidate to have administrative privileges on the laptop/desktop to enable installation/uninstallations.
- Uninterrupted power supply to run the system continuously during the test.
Test Process: Candidate must copy and paste the url that will be provided and enter the ID and password provided.
Remote Proctoring: Candidates will be observed by the proctor from the control room of the institute as per the details mentioned below:
- Candidates will be sent the login credentials via SMS and mail before the test.
- Candidates will have to undergo identity verification at two levels:
- Level 1- the facial photo has to be captured. The AI tool will monitor the picture of the candidate continuously. In case of any mismatch, the system will capture the anonymity and notification will be displayed to the candidate.
- Level 2- candidates will have to display the admit card and ID proof. Proctor will instruct the candidate to display after logging in to the test.
- Candidate must not practice any unfair means, failing to which the system will automatically collect data and will alert the online proctor for the following parameters:
- Focus changed to a different window: Candidate tabs out of the test-taking window.
- Browser not supported: The candidate is using an older browser version.
- Webcam is disabled: Candidates webcam is disabled.
- The face is not visible in the camera: The candidate is not looking into the camera.
- Several faces in front of the camera: There are other people along with the test taker.
- The face does not match the profile: The candidate taking the Test is not the same person whose photo was captured before starting the test and as per the Admit Card.
- Microphone muted or its volume is low: Candidate has muted the microphone Conversation or noise in the background: System has captured background noise.
- Screen activities are not shared: The candidate has stopped screen share activity.
- Second display is used: Additional display like extended monitor has been connected.
- Full-screen mode is disabled: Candidate has disabled full-screen mode.
- Live proctors will be able to:
- Communicate with the candidate via microphone only or the camera + sound
- Chat with the candidate
- Every minute snapshot of the candidate will be taken
- Each session will be finished by the candidate or will end automatically once the timer ends. All the conversations and images will be saved in the system and will be attached to the session protocol.
- At the end of the session, the Proctor will leave a positive or negative comment as per the conduct of the test taker. If there will be no violation during the test then the zProctor will mark a positive conclusion.
- In case of any technical issue while giving the test candidate can contact the helpline number- 02262507719. The number is operational from August 7, 2021 or candidates can contact through support portal: http://support.icsi.edu.
- The candidate will be disqualified in case of any violation of the instruction provided by the proctor.
- No bio breaks will be allowed once the exam commences.
- In case during the test candidates faces any issue of internet connection, lost connection, power cut etc they shall be allowed to log in again and continue from the last question attempted. Proctor will report such instances to the institute immediately.
- Candidates must attempt the mock test to become familiar with the pattern and the mode of examination. Details for the mock test will be sent to the candidates separately.
Part 3- Operating Instructions
- Attempting the test
- When the Proctor will instruct candidates will have to click on the ‘Appear’ tab to get the instruction sheet. Candidates must read the instructions carefully and can clear any doubt from the remote proctor before the commencement of the test.
- Each question will be followed by four options marked as A, B, C and D. Candidates must click on the correct option with the mouse. The chosen answer will be highlighted and will be saved automatically.
- Candidates can modify their answer by simply clicking on the other option before the timer ends,
- Candidates shall not click the “FINISH” button followed by warnings until they have completed all the questions of all sections of the Test. The Test shall NOT RE-START once the “CONFIRM” button is clicked.
- The timer will start once the test commences. The countdown will be displayed on the right side of the test window.
- Before the conclusion of the test, the candidates can use the “Bookmark” option by clicking on the “Bookmark” button, if they wish to review or revisit the question later.
- In case the laptop/desktop restarts or shutdown inform the invigilator immediately. Answers already marked and the time of the test will be saved and the candidate will be able to resume the test from the exact point that last appeared before him/her.

- Select the correct option for each question and click on the ‘next button to move to further questions
- Candidates can click on the ‘previous’ tab to move to the last attempted question(s)
- Every particular question answered by the candidate will be displayed in GREEN colour on the Summary Panel. The questions that are not attempted and not bookmarked for review will be displayed without any colour. Questions Attempted and Bookmarked for review will be highlighted in BLUE and those which are not attempted but Bookmarked for Review will be displayed in RED.
Part 4- Examination Submission
- After completion of the examination, candidates can click “DONE” button followed by three warnings with “FINISH” button to submit the examination. After the conclusion of examination timing, the system will automatically save, finish and submit the examination.
- In case any candidate wrongly clicks the “DONE” button, warning screens will be displayed, and he/she can return to the question paper by clicking “Go to Examination”. There are three such warnings – WARNING-1, WARNING-2 and WARNING-3 with the “FINISH” button.
- Candidates shall remain cautious while clicking the “FINISH” button and warnings. On clicking the “FINISH” button after “WARNING-3”, the examination will be completed, finished and submitted.
- After submission of examination, it shall not re-start at all and the answer marked by the candidate to the questions shall be considered for purposes of computation of the result.
- No candidate is permitted to leave the examination until the expiry of Examination timing.
- A “Thank you” message will appear confirming the completion, finishing and submission of the examination.
