MyStory@Ankit Keshri: My college days were spent outside the campus
After Class 12, my friends and I were confused about which stream to choose for higher studies. Finally, we chose Commerce stream and joined Dalmia College, Rajgangpur, Odisha, to pursue B Com.
Our first day in college went well. We reached on time and attended all the classes. But second day was troublesome. We our bus and we were getting late for our first class. So, we decided to take lift. But only I could hitch the ride. On reaching the college I decided to wait for my friend attend the second class with him.
When I was waiting for my friend at the college bus stand I saw the principal walking towards me. He scolded me and ordered me to go and attend the class.
As the days passed by we became mischievous. We would bunk classes, disrupt lectures, make fun of others and try to impress girls. We would take lift to college and do stupid things on the highway.
Once I was asked to leave the class by a professor as I was making fun of him. While standing outside the class the principal came and he scolded me again for my behaviour. He said that “you will never improve” and “go to hell”. I thanked him and left for canteen.
From then on, my friends used the same tactics to get out of the class and we would go to the backside of the college which had a forest and a river; and spent time there.
In all this our studies was suffering but we didn’t realise it. When the result of 1st year was declared we were shocked.
Still, we did not care. We thought we will make it up by going to coaching classes. But even in coaching classes we paid least interest in studies.
But as the exams approached, we got serious about studies and luckily the questions were asked from the sections that we had prepared.
We cleared the exams with 50% marks. Now was the time to decide PG course. Someone chose MBA, someone went for banking but eventually we all friends are now working in the same company.
I had a lot of fun in my college days. I did a lot of mischief and troubled my professors. Now, I want to say sorry to my teachers for my behaviour. College days will remain the most memorable days of my life forever.
