My admission in St. Joseph’s College for Women was against my will. BCom as my course was an obvious selection as I had commerce in intermediate and also I hated Physics and Chemistry was the reason for choosing commerce as my background. I have always been a basketball love, and I used to play a lot during my school days and wanted to grow myself in this sport. So I decided to join Dr. Lankapali Bullayya College where students got the opportunity to play under the guidance of a coach and where sports was given importance. I was super excited to start a new life carrying my passion with me. I got the application form from the college and filled it. The next day I had to go to submit it. The same day dad put a form right in front of me saying I had to join St. Joseph College for Women where my sister was joining for her intermediate. Sisters will go to college holding hands every day. "What about my dreams," I screamed, but nothing could convince him. I had no choice and I joined St. Joseph’s College for Women which was not so far from my house and knowing this was another heartbreak.

My 1st day at college was extremely disappointing. For a second I was little shocked when I saw only girls everywhere.  Soon I realised "women's college". While filling the form of this college, I was so depressed with the thought of not getting an admission in my dream college that I didn’t even bother to have a look at the form of this college and read at least the college’s name. All I knew was that the name of the college was St. Joseph’s College. I was so frustrated that I just wanted to leave.

Talking about the college, it was awesome. I did not have any issues. I played as much as I could. It’s just that I am not satisfied totally as sports was not given so much attention there. I wanted more. In college, I was appreciated and I won numerous trophies for the college. I had a good experience, have memories which are the best of my college days that I'll cherish all my life.

Never give up on life. Life is full of surprises. You never know what's planned for you. You just need to believe in yourself and realize.

The beginning was definitely tough as I was totally into a very new surrounding where I could only see females everywhere. Dropping into a women’s college from a co-ed study environment gives a blow at once. But later, I realised that the enjoyment we had in a women's college we wouldn't have had in a co-ed college. We had all the freedom to stay how we liked to, understood self-worth, and were made to believe that we are born princesses. We were taught how to behave like a lady and I really want to thank the wonderful teachers and staff we had. The faculty always got us to the right path. We enjoyed with them too. They were more like friends and I love them all. The teachers from the departments other than B.Com (computers) were also close. We felt that St. Joseph’s College for Women was not just a college and we were not just the students; we were a big family. Proud to be a Josephine.
