Commerce Scholarships for Students in India
Below are some of the scholarships which students from a commerce background can apply for.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students
With an objective to provide financial aid to meritorious students with a family income of less than INR 4.5 lakh per annum, the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students was made operational in the year 2008. The scholarship is disbursed directly into the saving bank account of the scholarship recipients by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
The scholarship is provided by the Ministry of Education, Government of India based on marks obtained in Class 12.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students Eligibility Criteria
Students who fulfil the following conditions can avail Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students (CSSSCUS) scholarship:
- Students who secured 80 percentile and above in Class 12 from a recognized board of examination
- Students who are pursuing regular degree courses and not distance or correspondence or Diploma courses
- Students who are pursuing a course at an AICTE-approved college or institute
- Students who are not availing of any other scholarship scheme including State-run scholarships/ fee waiver & reimbursement schemes
- Students whose gross paternal/family income is less than INR 4.5 lakhs per annum. Such candidates have to provide their income certificate.
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students Rate and Duration
The rate of the scholarships is INR 12,000 per annum at the graduation level for the first three years and INR 20,000 per annum at the postgraduate level. Students pursuing professional courses where the duration is five years such as an integrated programme, will get INR 20,000 per annum in the fourth and fifth years of their course. Students pursuing technical courses such as BTech will only get scholarships up to graduation level. This means, that students will get INR 12,000 per annum for the first year and for the fourth year they will receive a sum of INR 20,000 per annum as the scholarship.
Commerce Ka Arjun Scholarship Programme
An initiative designed to support and encourage Commerce students, the Commerce Ka Arjun Scholarship Programme aims to provide financial assistance to meritorious students who demonstrate academic excellence.
Interested students can fill out an application form which is available on the official website of the affiliated educational institute. Applicants will be required to submit the relevant documents including academic transcripts, proof of financial need, etc.
Commerce Ka Arjun Scholarship Programme Eligibility Criteria
The following is the eligibility criteria to avail Commerce Ka Arjun scholarship:
- The students must hold a strong academic record
- The student should have completed Class 12 with the minimum marks required from a recognized board in Rajasthan
- The student must hold a Rajasthan domicile certificate
Commerce Ka Arjun Scholarship Programme Rate
About 100 students are offered the Commerce Ka Arjun Scholarship and are presented with awards, trophies, certificates and scholarships up to 90% for CA/CMA foundation coaching fees depending on the marks obtained by the students.

The Fellow Programme in Management is the doctoral programme of IIM Ahmedabad. Students admitted to the programme receive comprehensive fellowships that cover all costs whilst providing a modest living allowance.
IIM Ahmedabad Fellow Programme in Management Eligibility Criteria
The following is the eligibility criteria to avail IIM A Fellow Programme in Management scholarship:
- The student must hold a master's degree with at least 50% aggregate in graduation
- The students pursuing a CA/CS/ICWA with at least 55% aggregate can apply for this fellowship programme.
- The students must have enrolled in CAT/GMAT/GRE/GATE
Aditya Birla Scholarship

Chartered Accountant Students Benevolent Funds (CASBF)
Established in 2008, CASBF is a scholarship programme offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) to provide financial assistance to students who are registered in CA Intermediate/ IPCC/ CA Final courses. The scholarship is provided to CA students from financially weak backgrounds but are meritorious.
Chartered Accountant Students Benevolent Funds Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for CASBF is as follows:
- The student must have a valid CA course registration
- The student must be undergoing articled/industrial training as per CA Regulations, 1988
- The combined annual income of the parents of the student must be less than INR 3 lakh.

The students registered for the CA Intermediate/ IPCC course serving articled training, and applying for CASBF scholarship must note that they will be offered INR 1500 per month if they fulfil the eligibility criteria. The students registered for the CA Final course and serving of articled/industrial training on the date of application will be offered INR 2000 per month. Students will be given in lump sum for one year.
