Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn) will soon kick off a swank new short course on ‘Seismic Design of Reinforced Concrete Buildings’ to train civil engineers, architects and other professionals in earthquake safe construction.

Participants under the program will be taught seismic design procedures for multi-storied reinforced concrete buildings. At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:

  • Have an overall understanding of the seismic design concepts, procedures and current practices to enable them to plan and direct the construction activity appropriately
  • Understand the methodology of seismic design to be able to execute a proper design
  • Have better appreciation of various construction details with respect to seismic response

Students who successfully complete the course will be awarded a certificate of participation. The course will be conducted at IIT Gandhinagar premises in Ahmedabad.
