37,500 Indians get UK student visa in 2019

On Thursday, the UK Immigration Statistics were released and it reflects that more than 37,500 Indian students received Tier 4 or study visa in 2019. This is a jump of 93 per cent from 2018.

According to the latest immigration data from the United Kingdom, the UK is gradually growing in popularity as a destination for Indian students as well as professionals. On Thursday, the UK Immigration Statistics were released and it reflects that more than 37,500 Indian students received tier 4 or study visas in 2019. This is a jump of 93 per cent from 2018. This also shows the highest number of visas offered to Indian students over a period of last eight years. It is in line with the strong upward trend in the number of student visa since 2016. For student visas, Indians are presently the fastest-growing nationality.

The statistics displayed a similar rising trend for Indian working professionals looking to work in the UK. More than 57,000 tier 2 or skilled work visas were offered to Indian nationals. This is over half of all UK work visas offered to the rest of the world. Apart from this, it is still a popular destination for Indian holidaymakers. Over 515,000 Indian nationals got visit visas last year. This is a rise of 8 per cent against the previous year. In 2019, 95 per cent of Indian nationals who applied for UK visa was successful, a rise of 5 per cent against the previous year.

The continuous rise in UK visas issued to Indians has been after a series of visa policy announcements by the UK. This consists of the formation of a new graduate route that permits eligible students to stay in the UK for two years after finishing their studies there. A new point-based immigration system was also unveiled lately by the UK.
