AICTE officials are working online to avoid delays in the scrutiny and approval process.

Amid the COVID-19 lockdown imposed nationwide to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) decided to go digital for online scrutiny & issue of Extension of approval (EoA). AICTE shared a photograph of its employees working remotely online to avoid delays in the scrutiny and approval process.

The tweet posted by the AICTE reads, “#AICTE now goes digital for online scrutiny & issue of EoA. All regional offices utilizing digital platforms with experts joining online for the annual exercise of scrutiny. Institutes joining & presenting docs remotely, facilitating to jumpstart academic sessions as #Lockdown eases.”

Earlier, while talking to the media, AICTE Chairman, Anil Sahasrabuddhe, stated, “We have devised online scrutiny of documents and virtual institute inspections in order to proceed with approval of new colleges. This process can’t be further delayed so we had to come up with a viable solution.”  He added that the online scrutiny will be at par with any physical scrutiny that institutes have been put through in the past.

The ongoing lockdown made the Council choose an alternative method to avoid delays. The official statement released by the Council in this regard is given below:

Meanwhile, AICTE also again urged all the deemed universities and standalone institutions to not force students to pay their fees during the lockdown period. The Council also asked the institutions and stakeholders to come forward to help the country in its fight against the deadly novel coronavirus.
