Amid closed academic institutions, postponed exams and delayed results, AICTE e-learning courses will not only prevent academic loss of students but will also help students utilize the COVID-19 lockdown period effectively by upgrading their skills.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) launched 49 e-learning courses for free. Amid closed academic institutions, postponed exams and delayed results, AICTE e-learning courses will not only prevent academic loss of students but will also help students utilize the COVID-19 lockdown period effectively by upgrading their skills.

The list of AICTE e-learning courses includes diploma courses, certificate courses and skill courses. Some of these are open for students in all technical branches, while others are meant for students from specific streams. According to the official statement published on AICTE’s website, the courses are being provided by different companies for free to those who register until May 15, 2020.

The notice on AICTE’s website states, "During the lockdown, learning should not stop. Fortunately, many companies came forward to give their products FREE OF COST for those who register till 15th May 2020 for your learning. AICTE does not take any responsibility for its contents nor copyright issues, if any, since the products are not vetted by AICTE. It's the responsibility of respective company.”

Due to the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government in order to contain the deadly novel coronavirus, the Universities and colleges are encouraging students to take up online courses to prevent loss of studies amid the shutdown. Minister of Human Resource and Development, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', is time and again tweeting about various online initiatives that the government is taking to help students study at home.

Universities Grant Commission (UGC) also directed universities to conduct online classes and asked students to avail the benefit of UGC-MOOCs. UGC-MOOCs is a vertical of SWAYAM, an MHRD initiative for digital education, which provides courses approved by UGC, AICTE, and NIOS.
