AICTE revises 2021 academic calendar, classes to begin in October
According to the revised academic calendar of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), engineering and technical institutions have to start classes for new students from October 25 and that for existing students from October 1.
The last date for grant of approval to technical institutes, standalone postgraduate diploma in management (PGDM) and postgraduate certificate programme (PGCM) institutions, and institutions offering open and distance learning (ODL) and online courses for this academic year is now July 15. Further, the last date for grant of affiliation by the university or board is August 10.
As per the latest academic calendar of the AICTE, the first round of counselling will end on September 30 and the classes of technical courses for existing students will begin on October 1 and that of freshers will commence on October 25. The last date for cancellation of seats for technical courses with a full fee refund is October 15.
The commencement of classes for existing and new students in standalone PGDM/PGCM institutes will be from August 2 and the last date for admission to courses is August 11. The last date for cancellation of admission to courses in PGDM/PGCM institutions, including full fee refund, is August 6.
The classes may be started in online or offline or blended mode following the prescribed protocols or guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Technical institutes and universities need to adhere to the safety guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India and AICTE to contain the spread of the virus.
