Apply online for ISRO's 'Young Scientist Programme'

The programme will be held for almost two weeks from May 11-22, 2020. It will include exclusive sessions for discussions with experts, practical and feedback sessions invited talks, experience sharing by the eminent scientists, and facility & lab visits.

 

Indian Space Research Organisation or ISRO has unveiled a unique programme for school children titled "Young Scientist Programme" or "YUva VIgyani KAryakram" from the year 2019. For the second session of the programme which is to take place during the month of May 2020, the online registration process has started. The objective of the programme is to take offer fundamental knowledge on Space Science, Space Applications and Space Technology to the school kids so that their interest in the space activities could be aroused. The programme will be held for almost two weeks from May 11-22, 2020. It will include exclusive sessions for discussions with experts, practical and feedback sessions invited talks, experience sharing by the eminent scientists, and facility & lab visits.

Three students each from each State or Union Territory will be chosen to take part in this programme that will cover ICSE, CBSE and State syllabus. By means of online registration, the selection will be done. The online registration can be done till Feb 24, 2020. Those students who have completed 8th standard and are studying in 9th standard will be eligible for the programme. Students who are studying in India including OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) are eligible for the programme. They will be selected basis the 8th Standard academic performance and extracurricular activities. 

In the selection criteria, special weightage has been given to the students belonging to the rural area. The younger candidates will be given priority in case of a tie between the selected candidates. The interested students can register online through the ISRO website (www.isro.gov.in) from February 3, 2020 to February 24, 2020 (1800 hrs). The list of the shortlisted candidates from each state will be released on March 2, 2020.
