As many as 6,000 students have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding postponement of the Chartered Accountancy (CA) exams that are scheduled to be held in offline mode in July.

CA exams

In the letter, the students have urged the Prime Minister to take suo-motu cognisance of the CA exams to be held from July 5 to July 20 by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). More than three lakh students will appear for these exams.CA students who are going to appear in these exams fall in age group of 18-23 and it will be injustice with these students as well as their family members also if they are pressurised to appear in these 15-day long physical exams without giving them opportunity to vaccinate themselves,” the letter read.

It further read, “This is going to be first all India level exam after deadly second wave which is not yet over...we would also like to address that over 3 lakh students will be appearing in these exams from all over India and majority of them are not even vaccinated with at least single dose of vaccine.”

CA 2021 exams to start from July 5

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is all set to hold the CA foundation, inter and final exams from July 5 till July 20 in offline mode on a pan India basis. The letter comes almost a week after a plea seeking to highlight similar concerns was filed in the Supreme Court and it will be heard by the top court on Tuesday (June 28). The plea advocates that every district in India should have at least one exam centre and students, appearing for the intermediate and final exams, must be given an extra attempt.

The students also requested the PM to provide an unconditional opt-out facility and an additional alternate attempt for such students. Moreover, they also made a request to extend the last attempt for old course students by one year and to direct the ICAI to provide transportation and accommodation facilities to students whose exam centres have been shifted by the ICAI.
