CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2018: Physics Paper Analysis by Board Examiner

CBSE Class XII Physics Board Exam paper was conducted from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on March 7, 2018. Sources share that more than 5 lakh students appeared for the Physics board exam 2018. Students as well as teachers agreed that the Physics question paper was balanced and as per the syllabus shared by CBSE. It has also been brought to notice that scoring would be high in CBSE board exam for Physics this year. Most of the questions asked in the paper were direct.

Majority of the students felt that the numerical portion of the paper was a bit complicated.

Test Pattern & Marking Scheme

The Physics board exam paper was divided into five sections. There was internal choice in one question of two marks weightage, one question of three marks weightage and all questions of five marks weightage.

Difficulty Level

This year the paper was more logical having reasoning questions and conceptual understanding was necessary to answer this.

Section C of CBSE Class 12 Physics paper was lengthy, difficult and time consuming compared to last year’s paper. Most of the students would have found some questions of Section C and Section E to be difficult.

Overall, the paper was tricky for weak students.

Test Pattern as Compared to Previous Year’s Papers

The marks weightage of CBSE’s Physics board exam was similar as compared to last year’s paper. Apart from that, questions on optics were difficult compared to last year's paper. Also, derivations were less as compared to last year.

Students can easily score 45/70. However, it would be a little difficult to score full marks in this paper.
