The Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE) has postponed the class 10 and class 12 exams scheduled for Wednesday i.e. February 26, 2020, in the northeast district of Delhi.

The Central Board of Secondary Examinations (CBSE) has postponed class 10 and class 12 exams scheduled for Wednesday i.e. February 26, 2020. Based on the request of the Directorate of Education and the government of Delhi and to avoid inconvenience to students, staff, and parents, CBSE took the decision to postpone the scheduled examinations in the Northeastern districts of Delhi due to violence and unrest in the area.

CBSE has rescheduled exams for 86 exams centres located in the Northeast District of Delhi. Class 10 examinations of subjects English Communicative, and English Language and Literature are postponed. For class 12, examinations for Web Application (Old), Web Application (New), and Media subjects are postponed as well.

However, the Board will conduct the exams in the rest of Delhi as scheduled. The Board has also informed that the new date for the postponed examinations will be notified shortly.

Education Minister Manish Sisodia has confirmed that all the government and private schools in the Northeastern districts of Delhi will remain closed tomorrow as well i.e. February 26, 2020, due to rising violence in Delhi following the protest against/for Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The annual examinations scheduled for the day will be postponed as well. The minister has also confirmed via a tweet that he had a word with the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' and urged him to postpone the board examination of the particular district.

In the tweet, Sisodia said, “There will be no internal examinations in violence-affected North East district and all private and government schools will be closed. Have spoken to HRD minister requesting him to postpone the board exams in the district.”

During the protest, violence broke between pro and anti CSS protestors against Citizen Amendment Act (CAA), five people including a police officer got killed while almost 50 people got injured. According to the reports, vehicles and shops were set on fire and parts of Delhi got converted into a war zone. Delhi Chief Minister took to social media and voiced his concern over the matter. He also urged the Hon’ble LG and Union home Minister to maintain law and order.
