Students preparing for CBSE 12th examinations 2020 for Physics must go through the preparation tips to be able to score good marks in the CBSE exams 2020.

As per the released schedule, the CBSE 2020 exams will take place from February 15 and continue until March 30, 2020.

Studying Physics requires thorough knowledge of theories and concepts, analysing those concepts, applying the theories to the problems and using the correct formula to solve the problems. It also requires proper strategic planning, logical thinking and also clarity on concepts.  Students must also go through the entire CBSE Syllabus 2020 for Physics and strategise their preparation accordingly.
This article will provide the students with the important topics to cover for the CBSE Physics exam and also preparation tips to ace the CBSE 12th Physics exam 2020.

CBSE 12th Physics Preparation Tips (Topic-wise)

Students must go through the following CBSE Preparation Tips for Physics for Class 12 to score good marks.

1. Students who are weak in Mathematics should begin with Modern Physics first.

Modern Physics consists of two parts:

  • Semiconductors (weightage- 8 marks)
  • Atom and Nuclei (weightage- 6 marks)

These topics are free from much complex mathematical calculations and can be studied quickly.

2. Students should next focus on Dual Nature of Radiation and Communication system which constitutes around 4 and 3 marks respectively in the exam. These topics are easy to memorise.

3. Optics constitutes almost a major part in the examination. It has the maximum weightage of 14 marks in the board exam. Optics can be divided into the following-
Ray optics: It is easier to study
Wave optics: It is a bit complicated than ray optics. The topics of interest are numerical on Interference, Diffraction and Young’s Double-slit experiment.

4. Another important and easy chapter is Current and Electricity which carries 7 marks in the examination.

5. Electrostatics and Magnetism is very time-consuming and is a very important topic. Circuit diagrams are usually asked from this chapter.

6. Another important unit is EMI, which is one of the scoring topics in Physics exam.

7. Ray diagrams must be practised thoroughly by the students in order to score more marks.

CBSE 12th exams 2020- General Tips

  1. Students must note that they refer to NCERT books only first. They should prioritise only NCERT books and later on refer to Modern ABC of Physics by Satish K Gupta.
  2. Students must take the help of elders, teachers in case of any doubts.
  3. Practise a great number of numericals which helps you to memorize the formulae and apply them correctly. Moreover, practising numerical also helps in understanding the concepts.
  4. Make a list of formulae topic-wise and revise it every day.
  5. Mathematics is an integral part of Physics, students must start early and make a habit of practising the problems regularly.
  6. Revise concepts regularly to keep a track of it and not to forget the concepts.
  7. The most important tip is, do mention the units of quantities everywhere wherever necessary, especially while solving numericals.
  8. Make a habit of writing answers in a point-wise manner, so that all the important points are covered. Point-wise answer-writing habit makes a student clear about the conceptual understanding and for examiner also, it is convenient.
  9. Go through the question paper thoroughly and plan your answers before writing them down.
  10. Remember to study every day a new concept and revise old ones.
  11. students must not forget to practise last years' question papers. Time management is the key to score maximum in any exam.
  12. Focus on long answer type questions more as they carry more marks. In order to write lengthy answers, concepts must be very clear. Form a rough skeleton of the answer and then start writing the answer in the answer sheet.
