Compartment examination of Class 9 and 11 students of government schools in Chandigarh have been postponed until further notice. The examination was supposed to be conducted from May 15, however, due to ongoing coronavirus lockdown in the state.

Around 4,550 students were supposed to appear for Classes 9 and 11 this year. Results were announced on April 20 after allotting 30 grace marks. The pass percentage of Class 9 was 72.2 percent and the remaining 27.8 percent of students were put under compartment. In Class 11, 550 students got compartment.
The Chandigarh Education Department has directed all the school principals and heads, to postpone the Compartment exam for Class 9 and 11.
It has also announced that the fresh dates will be shared with the students a week before the exams begin.
While commenting on the same, Alka Mehta, District Education Officer (DEO), said: “Possibility of the opening of schools is negligible at the moment as the number of coronavirus cases is still rising. Therefore, the department has decided to postpone the exams. Now, the students will have more time to prepare. They will be given a week’s time for revision before the fresh dates are announced.”
Although the department has not decided on the new dates yet, it is planning to hold exams only after schools reopen.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had announced that class 10th students will be promoted to the next grade on the basis of their performance in the pre-Board exams.
Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) was supposed to conduct the PSEB 10th exams 2020 from March 17 to April 13 this year. However, it was postponed due to coronavirus outbreak in the country,
For PSEB 12th exams 2020 last subject paper which is pending, he said the state government will follow the decision the Central government will make.
