Chandigarh University released the ‘COVID-10 warriors scholarship scheme’ worth Rs 5 crore for the individuals who are fighting against coronavirus. The scheme is applicable to their wards as well.

Chandigarh University released the ‘COVID-10 warriors scholarship scheme’ worth Rs 5 crore for the individuals who are fighting against coronavirus. The scheme is applicable to their wards as well. The list of COVID-19 warrior includes doctors, nurses, para-medical staff, housekeeping staff of hospitals, police personnel of all Indian states, paramilitary forces, media persons and sanitation workers.

According to reports, under this scheme, Chandigarh University will reserve 10 percent seats in all its offered undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the wards of COVID-19 warriors. Also, the students enrolled under this category would be eligible for the 10 percent fee rebate until the completion of the programme.

Talking about the newly introduced scheme, the chancellor of the university, Satnam Sandhu stated, “COVID-19 warriors are everyday superheroes and the entire nation owes them a tremendous debt of gratitude by taking care of the future of their children and the COVID-19 Warrior Scholarship announced by Chandigarh University is just a small attempt to recognize and express our gratefulness towards them.”

Meanwhile, a team from the University started a distribution drive of hand sanitizer and has distributed 3500 litres of sanitizers to Punjab Police, AIIMS New Delhi, old age homes, orphanages and villages of Chandigarh and Mohali.

Students and Faculty members of the University are also feeding around 200 people from the neighboring village daily under the CU-AID campaign. The University also made arrangements of isolation facilities at Gharuan with a capacity of 1000 beds. The volunteers are not only taking care of the poor but are also reaching out to feed strays who are under distress due to the ongoing condition and unavailability of food.
