Chitkara University Makes to the Top 200 in The Clarivate Analytics’ ‘Leading Innovators List 2020’

December 24, 2020: For its unrelenting emphasis on research and development, the Chitkara University has been ranked among the top 200 leading innovators in South and South East Asia by Derwent, Clarivate Analytics, in the Innovation Survey for South and South East Asia-2020.

Chitkara University Organises a 'Leadership Talk on Atmanirbhar Bharat'

November 23, 2020: Chitkara University, Chandigarh recently arranged a leadership talk on the subject of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat,' with expertise and experience disseminated by eminent experts from the top levels of industry and government. The Leadership Talk was the result of the relentless emphasis on building the nation through knowledge dissemination, especially in the context of a national call for the development of a self-reliant Bharat.

Chitkara University Organises a Live Interactive Session for Students with WNS Global Service Group CEO

September 30, 2020: Chitkara University recently invited Keshav R Murugesh, THE Group CEO of WNS Global Services and Ex-Chairman NASSCOM for an interactive live session with students on industry insights. During his leadership talk, he introduced students to various career opportunities ahead and also educated them on what the corporate world expects from them.

Murugesh is popularly known as the 'Turnaround Turk’. He was responsible for developing corporate strategies and leading the overall success and advancement of more than 43,000 workers in 16 countries. Murugesh oversaw multinational majors such as Syntel and ITC (a subsidiary of BAT Plc) and for two consecutive terms chaired the NASSCOM BPM Board. He is credited with the first verticalised paradigm for rewriting the Industry Laws of Business Process Management ( BPM). He also led a major corporate rebranding initiative called 'Become World Worthy' and created a climate conducive to developing the talent pool through closer relations between industry and the university.

University Collaborates With Lenskart to Offer 4-Year Optometry Program

September 23, 2020: India as a country has over 300 million people deprived of vision correction and to fix this problem requires over 1 lakh, high-quality optometrists. With an aim to address this issue and supply high-quality force of optometrists, Chitkara University recently entered into a collaboration with India’s leading Optical Eyewear Retail Chain, Lenskart which has the largest Spectacles Labs and Optical store chains with eye testing facility in India.

Optometry is a medical field that deals with eye and related issues. It involves providing a one-stop-shop solution for eye and vision care. Their main job is to conduct visual assessments to diagnose problems with sight and prescribes corrective lenses to correct them.

As a part of this association, the University will offer a Bachelor of Optometry program option to Class 12 students. This is a full-time four-year degree programme including one year of an internship opportunity for students.

Students Bag Prestigious National Level Innovation Award 2020

August 22, 2020: MOKSH, a team of three Mechanical Engineering students and one Research and Innovation Network student from Chitkara University recently bagged the prestigious Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) 2020 for successful commercialisation of the on-field Rice Stubble management machine. This machine has been designed to eliminate the need for combustion of rice in the field. In September and October, the mechanism helped provide farmers with a viable and commercial solution to preserve soil fertility and counter the elevated levels of pollution during rice stubble burns. The project was completed under the mentorship of Associate Director Research Dr Nitin K Saluja.

Gandhian Young Technological Innovation (GYTI) Award, instituted by SRISTI (Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions), includes three national awards for innovative student projects in Engineering and Biotechnology Agriculture, Pharmacy, Material Science, and other applied technological domains.

Chitkara University, thus, becomes the only non-IIT, NIT and IISc to bag this award.

Canada’s Bow Valley College and India’s Chitkara University Join Hands to Impart Quality Education to Healthcare Students

August 4, 2020: Recently, as a result of the partnership with Bow Valley College in Canada, Chitkara University announced that students who have graduated from any stream of Healthcare programmes can now transfer to the Health & Human Services Management (HHSM) one-year post-diploma certificate at Bow Valley College through Chitkara University. A letter of admission from Bow Valley College will be given to qualifying applicants. Before the students leave, they will have to undergo a four-week mandatory orientation programme at the campus of Chitkara University.

Healthcare and Nursing programmes are sought after and they are a promising career in Canada. Despite the unpredictable dynamics of the Covid-19 pandemic, this means that students will start in this time frame to achieve their international study goals. The programme is expected to begin in January 2021, once the travel eases.

Students graduating from Bow Valley College would either be able to qualify for a Canadian postgraduate work permit or can also apply for other diploma courses or degree programmes with a public university pathway partner.

Chitkara Becomes Only Indian University Shortlisted for Times Higher Education Asia Awards 2020

July 23, 2020: Chitkara University is the only University in India to have made it in the top eight for the coveted Times Higher Education Asia Awards 2020 category, the 'Technological Innovation of the Year.' Chitkara University has proudly announced that it has crossed this milestone and this was the third in line this year. With 150 internationally renowned universities spanning 30 Asian territories, It is the first to be in the league of highest reputation and rankings it has kept up to date.

Earlier this year, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) IGUAGE, the Indian division of the multinational ranking and rating firm, has named Chitkara university to be the first indian University to be recognised for its preparedness & excellence in online education. It has also been awarded with E-Learning Excellence for Academic Digitisation (E-LEAD) Certification from QS IGUAGE. These certifications were presented to the University amid the nationwide ockdown due to Coronavirus.

Chitkara University Hosts Innovator, Academician and Education Reformist Sonam Wangchuk

July 23, 2020: Amid the global pandemic situation, Chitkara University invited Innovator, Academician and Education Reformist Sonam Wangchuk for a live session to share his views on ‘Economics of Giving’.

He believes that the education system needs to address the real needs of the moment if the industrial production of our world and earth poses itself with a real challenge then we must change what is taught to the youth, we must start to talk about heals rather than further intensify the devastation in a similar way, regardless of what time is taken. It must be incorporated into the system of education. The problem and the solution must be grounded in real life.

With respect to the Boycott China campaign, Wangchuk has confirmed that the world aims to develop India for big business, making more indigenous goods manufactured locally and generating new opportunities, and gradually eliminating addiction and reliance on Chinese products. We will have no short-term responses, but we have to strategise by taking a medium course and increasing our potential.

He believes more government partnerships with young entrepreneurs in their businesses will be an encouraging factor

University Organises Master Class with Boman Irani on Learner’s Perspective

July 18, 2020: Chitkara College of Education in collaboration with Chitkara International School invited famous Bollywood actor Boman Irani to deliver a master class on ‘Learner’s perspective: a narrative by an artist extraordinaire’. Talking about his journey, Irani shared his transition journey from a boy with Mathematics Dyslexia, who would stammer and feel nervous around people to a popular face on the television.

He shared his philosophy of ‘self-worth’ that has helped him over the years in building confidence. He emphasised the fact that teaching is like acting and urged educators to apply art and theatre science to educate the students during the classroom or online. In addition, he proposed that the overall teaching and learning environment should be improved by incorporating flavours of humour, humanity, identity, empathy and personal experiences.

In reaction to a question about advice for teachers who suddenly faced a transition to online teaching as a result of Covid-19, he said, "I strongly believe in adaptability and get out of comfort zones."

Chitkara University Launches Academic Mentorship in Software Engineering

July 17, 2020: In these unprecedented times, students who were to travel abroad for studies had to put a stop to their plans. Catering to such students, Chitkara University has announced the launch of Academic Mentorship in Software Engineering in collaboration with Deakin University, Australia. The programme will commence in September 2020.

The two universities have together designed this four-year Bachelor of Software Engineering Programme. Under this programme, students will get to study Deakin University’s licensed curriculum in the first two years and basis successful completion they will get the opportunity to complete the degree at Deakin University’s campus in Australia.

Students will also be co-taught some academic units by Deakin faculty in infrastructure, and resources that will be similar to Deakin. This simply translates in better academic success for students with global careers and an education that saves them huge costs.

Chitkara University launches MBA in Events, Media and Entertainment in collaboration with Wizcraft

June 5, 2020: Chitkara University, Chandigarh has introduced a new specialisation to its MBA programme. The specialisation is in the field of Events, Media and Entertainment and will be offered in collaboration with India’s leading communication and Entertainment company, Wizcraft.

With the rising demand for skilled and ready industrial talent in these industries, Chitkara University has introduced an MBA for Events, Media and Entertainment. The event industry was expected to reach the Rs 10,000-crore mark by 2021 according to an E&Y report. Despite the recent slowdown the event and entertainment sector is projected to expand dramatically as well as create new opportunities for activities in rural and Tier-II towns due to streaming integration, exposure in the sports leagues, product launches and live events. Therefore, a large number of talented, enthusiastic and industry-ready professionals will be needed to drive innovation and creativity in the entertainment industry in the coming years.

The curriculum seeks to provide a comprehensive and expert knowledge of the way different types of events are organised and managed. The students of this programme will learn how to translate goals and strategies into successful events in an efficient way. As this programme aims to expose students to a practical environment, there will be internships and mentorship opportunities in collaboration with Wizcraft and students will also be taught Project Management from the scratch, including creation, execution and closure of the event.

Apart from this, the University offers specialisation in the areas of Marketing, Finance & Banking, Human Resource Management, to contemporary specialisations like Business Analytics, Healthcare (co-designed with Fortis), Healthcare IT (with Frost & Sullivan), Public Health, Rural Management, and Supply Chain & Logistics (co-designed with Safeducate).

Chitkara University Bags Gold Medal at State Karate Championship

November 27, 2019: Gurjot Singh of Chitkara University, recently participated in Rajasthan State level Karate Championship and bagged a gold medal. He participated in senior men’s fight and has been selected to present Rajasthan in west zone karate championship scheduled to be held in Goa in December.

Chitkara University Hosts North Zone Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp

November 24,2019: Chitkara University, recently hosted a Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp organised under the supervision of NSS Regional Directorate, Chandigarh and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, aiming at selecting the best NSS volunteer to take part in 2020 Republic Day parade.

The NSS officials, student volunteers and contingent leaders fully managed the 10-day Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp. For University officials and management it’s a great matter of pride to march on Rajpath and salute the “First Citizen of India”. The closing ceremony was celebrated with number of cultural performances. Deputy DGF Central Charu Dutt were invited as chief guest of the event. Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University Madhu Chitkara welcomed the guest and honoured the volunteers for their dedication, enthusiasm and participation.

University Hosts 6th International Conference on Pharmacy Practice

November 9, 2019: The sixth international conference on Pharmacy Practice Clinical Research and Pharmacovigilance Trends–2019 (PPCRPV-2019) was held at Chitkara University Punjab Campus. The conference was supported by the Punjab State Teachers ' Association of India and the Indian Pharmaceutical Association. The conference focused on initiatives to promote the patient’s safety. The International Conference forced prominent scientists and international decision makers to work together to focus on developing evidence-based drug monitoring approaches in India.
