Coronavirus in India: Tripura govt promotes classes 1 to 9 and 11 students

Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on April 19 declared the promotion of all the students studying in classes 1 to 9 and 11.

Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on April 19 declared the promotion of all the students studying in classes 1 to 9 and 11. The state government decided to promote the students if these classes in the wake of the novel coronavirus spread in the country. According to the reports, the minister also announced the commencement of the virtual classes for the state school students. In his official state, Mr Nath stated virtual classes for all students of the state schools up to higher secondary level started from Sunday in 14 local cable channels as all schools are closed due to COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to assist the students and prevent the academic loss, the state government also uploaded pre-recorded classes on Youtube under the title of 'Tripura Shiksha Bandhu'. 

At the civil secretariat, the Minister further added that all examinations were conducted before the announcement of the lockdown. Unless classes are started, the students would face problem, so the state education department decided to impart education through apps and local TV channels. Regular classes in the schools would begin from May 4 after the lockdown period. 

The department also directed the District Education Officers (DEOs) and Inspector of Schools (IS) to instruct the Headmasters and teachers to upload the result sheets through the Empower U app by April 25 onwards. 

While talking about the evaluation process of the Board exam answer sheets, the minister stated that the evaluation of answer sheets of classes 10 and 12 conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) will start from April 24 at 13 centres here in Agartala where teachers will maintain social distancing while checking the answer sheets. 

According to the report, around seven technical institutes and twenty-two general degree colleges already started online classes and created semester-wise and subject-wise WhatsApp group. Students can clear their doubts by contacting teachers via call or email.
