The Jawaharlal Nehru University has permitted students who could not return home to stay on campus and has also prepared mess services for them. According to JNUSU Vice-President Saket Moon, there are approximately 600 students on campus as of now. He further stated that the JNU Students' Union was quite content with the steps the management had taken. The university had prepared mess services in one hostel of each khand. He further stated that the students had also been told to bring their own plates. According to Apeksha Priyadarshini, a Councillor of the JNUSU, this was a victory for the JNUTA and the Students' Union.

The management has also informed that all necessary services such as sanitation, grocery, electrical needs, etc. would be accessible. They have also told students, teachers and staff on campus to practice social distancing. They have also been told not to call guests over or even go out unless there is an emergency. On March 22, the JNU administration had deferred all actions on campus including hotel services and had urged the students to vacate the campus within 48 hours.

The notice had given the student’s time until March 22, the Janta Curfew Day, to leave the hostel. The Students' Union and the Teachers' Association had opposed the step. The teachers had also declared that if a student faced trouble travelling and needed supplies or a place to stay, the professors would help them out. So far, the deadly virus has taken thousands of lives across the globe. In Italy itself, more than six thousand individuals have lost their lives so far.
