Uttar Pradesh Education Board will now conduct online classes for the students through WhatsApp by creating common groups for teachers and students.
To ensure there is no academic loss of the students during the ongoing nationwide lockdown, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Ministry Dr. Dinesh Sharma has said that the education department of the state will now conduct classes through WhatsApp.
In a tweet, the minister has said that the classes for the new session will be conducted through WhatsApp by creating common groups for teachers and students.
The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Education Board is sending the course material to the teachers through WhatsApp. The school education department has also created a WhatsApp group for each block in every district. Through these WhatsApp groups, the parents and guardians are also connected with the teachers.
The decision to conduct classes online through WhatsApp will prove to be a milestone in teaching during the lockdown period, said the minister.
To attend online classes through WhatsApp, students need to speak to contact Principal, class teacher or subject teacher who would note their WhatsApp enabled mobile number and add them to the relevant group.
While some of the parents in the state welcomed the decision, others wondered if all the students would be able to benefit through this initiative as not all students have access to a smartphone.
