According to the latest reports, the department of public relations and administration, Jammu and Kashmir government stated that all schools in the state shall remain closed with immediate effect for teaching and non-teaching staff till March 31.
The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday i.e. March 20, 2020, has directed school teachers to not attend duties as classes are suspended. It has also directed the teachers to stay at home until further notice.
The announcement is made in the wake of the rapidly rising coronavirus cases in the country in the past 48 hours. Earlier, the state government had closed all private and public schools in the state only for the students. However, in the past few days, looking at the rise in a number of COVID-19 cases in India, the government has advised teachers and non-teaching staff today to stay at home.

On March 18, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) was imposed in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district to control the spread of the coronavirus outbreak in the region. The district magistrate of Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar, has also banned the assembly of five or more people in any public place till March 31.
On March 14, Jammu and Kashmir imposed Section 144 in four districts amid the novel coronavirus scare. Last week, the district magistrate of Jammu announced the closure of shopping malls, gyms, swimming pools and recreational clubs with immediate effect.
As preventive measures, the Jammu and Kashmir administration also ordered the closure of primary schools and Anganwadi centres and shutting down of cinema halls across the region till March 31.
