As the classes are already suspended and exams are getting over, the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti decided to begin the summer breaks in advance.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) has decided to begin their summer breaks in advance due to the outbreak of epidemic Coronavirus/COVID-19. Talking about the advance of the summer breaks, an official from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas stated that the summer breaks at Navodaya Vidyalayas will now begin from March 21.
Fully residential and co-educational schools, JNVs are operated by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), an autonomous body under the HRD Ministry and work on the affiliation of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). In India, there are over 600 JNVs. According to a senior official of JNVs, the academic institution took this decision in the view of the coronavirus outbreak in India. As the classes are already suspended and exams are getting over, the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti decided to begin the summer breaks in advance. The vacation will now begin from March 21, 2020, and conclude on May 25, 2020.
Earlier, the summer breaks used to take place in the month of May and June. The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) suspended the classes following the precautionary advisory of the state governments. The governments of different states started shutting down the academic institutions, colleges, universities and other places with large gatherings in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus. World Health Organisation has declared the COVID-19 a pandemic. The disease has created a halt in various operations including education. It appears that in order to cover up the halt, the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has advanced their summer breaks. As soon as the break ends the operations of the academic institution will resume.
