UNICEF has released a precautionary advisory and checklists to help children and adults battle Coronavirus.

Regions and states are shutting down schools, educational institutes, events, etc. due to rapid-spreading COVID-19 or Coronavirus. WHO has declared Coronavirus a global pandemic and it has now become everyone’s responsibility to spread precautionary awareness against the disease among others. Coronavirus has created a state of panic and fear all around the globe. Noticing this, UNICEF has released a precautionary advisory and checklists to help children and adults battle Coronavirus.

In order to battle any disease, one must understand its basics like symptoms, complications, how does it transmit from one person to another, and what one should do to prevent the same. COVID-19 is not another flu that anyone can cure with general pills and medicines. People are advised to beware of fake information and myths that are being circulated on different social media portals and by word-of-mouth. One should only follow information about Coronavirus released through reputed sources such as WHO, UNICEF, and national/international health ministries. UNICEF has recently released a checklist for students and children that contains guidelines students must follow to minimize the spread of Coronavirus or COVID-19:

  1. It is normal to feel scared, panic, confused, worried, or angry during such situations. It is important to stay connected with others whom you trust. Know that you are not alone and others must be feeling the same. Talk to the people you trust, like your parents or teachers to keep yourself, your home, and your school safe and healthy. Educate yourself by asking questions and gather information from reliable sources.
  2. Protect yourself and others by keeping yourself sanitized and clean. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Remember to not touch your face, eyes, mouth, or nose with dirty hands. Do not share eating utensils, cups, food or drinks with others.
  3. Become a leader in keeping yourself, your home, your community, and school clean and healthy. Discuss and share your information about preventing disease with your family and friends. Follow good practices like covering while sneezing and coughing. Wash and sanitize your hand frequently.
  4. Don’t tease or stigmatize your friends and peers about being sick. Always remember that the virus can be transferred to anyone as it does not follow geographical boundaries, ethnicities, age or ability or gender.
  5. Inform your parents and other family members if you feel sick.
