The four government medical colleges reserved for the novel coronavirus cases are in Haldwani, Dehradun, Almora and Srinagar.
Uttarakhand government on March 24, temporarily assigned four medical colleges in the state exclusively to treat the coronavirus cases. According to the state government spokesperson and Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik, the four government medical colleges reserved for the novel coronavirus cases are in Haldwani, Dehradun, Almora and Srinagar.
The minister further added that other departments and faculties of these facilities will be shifted to different hospitals by the health secretary of the state. He further added that the decision in this regard was taken by the state cabinet at a meeting. However, the arrangement made is temporary.
The State Cabinet also ordered the heads of the departments of these medical colleges to conduct interviews and do recruitments to fill the vacant posts of doctors in order to keep a strong backup. For three months, the district magistrates also have the authority to fill the vacancies of doctors at these hospitals for three months.
The State Cabinet also decided to give Rs 3 crore to the district magistrates of Dehradun, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Haridwar. Rs 2 crore is proposed to be given to the remaining districts. The decision is taken to provide immediate financial assistance to unorganized sector laborers and to the people in need.
According to the decisions taken in the meeting, the state government will give Rs 20 as a bonus on the current minimum support price (MSP) of wheat at Rs 1,925 per quintal.
The Cabinet minister also stated that in order to assist people and help them during the time of crisis, the government decided that advance ration for three months will be made available to eligible beneficiaries through the public distribution system by the first week of April.
