The HRD minister revealed that the government is all set to take a decision regarding reopening schools and colleges after reviewing the prevailing severe situation due to the COVID-19 spread.
The 21-day lockdown due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus spread is ending on April 14. The virus spread and the following lockdown led to the closure of academic institutions, suspension of examinations, and evaluation work. However, according to the latest reports, Human Resource Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank talked about the government plans once the lockdown is lifted. While there are many speculations that the lockdown will be extended further, the HRD minister revealed that the government is all set to take a decision regarding reopening schools and colleges after reviewing the prevailing severe situation due to the COVID-19 spread.
The decision-makers are still contemplating whether to reopen the academic institutions or not. The decision will completely be dependent upon the changing situation in the upcoming days. Expressing that the safety and health of students and teachers is the government’s utmost priority, the minister said that they are prepared to ensure that the students will face no academic loss if schools and colleges remain shut beyond April 14.
The minister further added that they are regularly reviewing the plan of action prepared by the universities and higher educational institutions. He also revealed that the government is ready with a plan for conducting pending examinations and evaluation work once the lockdown is lifted. On March 24, PM Modi declared the 21-day lockdown until April 14. The government is preparing an action plan to conduct pending examinations and continue the evaluation work so that the results don’t get delayed. The same will be shared soon after reviewing the ongoing tense situation due to COVID-19 spread.
