Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) schools promoted all students of classes 1 to 8 directly to the next class without examinations in view of the rising emergency situation due to the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
However, the students of classes 9 and 11 get the promotion on the basis of their result based on school assessments such as term exams and periodic tests including assignments and project work among other tasks conducted so far.
Meanwhile, the AMU school authorities also informed that in case some students fail to clear this internal assessment process in any number of subjects; then s/he will have to appear for a school-based test either online or offline to make decisions on the promotion
Talking about the rescheduling of class 10, 12 board examinations, Professor Asfar Ali Khan, Director, DSE, stated, ‘However, with regard to rescheduling the board examinations for classes 10 and 12, it is informed that at this stage it is difficult for the AMU Board to decide and announce the new schedule of examinations.’
As speculations regarding the extension of the lockdown are going on with an increasing number of positive coronavirus cases in the country, it is impossible for authorities to predict any schedule.
Talking about the uncertainty, he further added that revised schedule, once decided after considering the prevailing situation and directives of the Government, will be declared by the Controller of Examinations
Regarding the board examination, the notice further stated, ‘It is further informed that the AMU Board will give notice of about 10 days to all stakeholders before starting the Board examinations.’
