Delhi government has announced that it will provide mid-day meals to government school students at their doorsteps, amid coronavirus outbreak.
With the country going under preventive lockdown to contain the coronavirus outbreak, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that all government school students who used to have mid-day meals at school, will now get their packed mid-day meals at their doorsteps.
He also announced that the government will give pension to the elderly, widows and disabled people who cannot work. The pension will range from Rs 4,000 to 5,000.
Kejriwal in a video message said that to avoid mass gathering of people, to contain novel coronavirus, which spreads through coming in contact with the infected person, this lockdown has been imposed by the government. During this emergency situation, to support those who are in need, the government has decided to send food packets to individual houses.
We are getting many messages, phone calls from people who want to help and support the government during this of crisis, he said.
In a video, Kejriwal said this is the time when the whole world is struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic, and people need to come forward to help each other and show humanity.
If God has been kind enough to give you, to give you all the facilities, money, food, and resources, be kind and help other needy and underprivileged people. Make it a mission that during this dire situation when everyone is struggling no one should die of starvation, Kejriwal said.
