The Punjab government has launched Padhai Tuhar Dwar, an online education portal, to keep students engaged and in touch with their studies during this 21-day lockdown period.

To avoid any academic loss during this coronavirus lockdown period, the Punjab government has launched an online education portal, to help students continue with their studies while being at home.

Alok Shukla, Principal Secretary, School Education Department said "looking at the present situation, and with the closure of schools around the country, the Punjab government has decided to come up with the educational portal. Keeping this in mind, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has inaugurated the portal 'Padhai Tuhar Dwar' which means education at your doorstep."

The facility will continue even after the lockdown is uplifted. Currently, the education portal will cover students from classes 1 to 10, but it will eventually expand for students up to class 12. The portal will soon cover college and university subjects too. Students of other states can also utilize this portal to help them with their studies, he added.

Over 40,000 students visited the portal during its trial run on Monday, Shukla said.

As per the official statement, soon after its launch, more than hundreds of teachers and students have enrolled, and about 150 videos and course materials have been uploaded on the portal.

On March 24, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced nationwide lockdown for 21-days. After this many schools, universities, and other educational institutions had opted for online classes so that students can focus on their studies and brush up on their skills during this period. Some schools and colleges are also hosting online competitions and other activities to keep the students motivated and engaged.
