Earlier, the department of higher education and languages of Punjab government wrote a letter to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and Panjab University, Punjabi University, Patiala and seeking suggestions regarding the examinations.

Officials from Punjab education institutes declared that the institutes will need at least 15 days to prepare for examinations after the COVID-19 lockdown gets over. The revelation made by the representatives of the educational institutes of Punjab was suggested during a meet held by the department of higher education on April 16.

A videoconference was held between the vice-chancellors of Punjabi University, Patiala, and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, and controller of examinations, Panjab University, along with other officials of the state government officials. Policies regarding examinations and admissions for the next session in the universities and colleges of Punjab were discussed during this meeting.

An official who attended the meeting revealed, ‘It was suggested that at least 15 days of classes should be held to enable the students to complete practical projects, internal exams and other internal assessments before the schedule of exams is notified.’

Earlier, the department of higher education and languages of Punjab government wrote a letter to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Panjab University, and Punjabi University, Patiala and seeking suggestions regarding the examinations.

The secretary of higher education and languages, Punjab government, Rahul Bhandari revealed that the institution have asked for 15 days to organize exam after the end of the lockdown to facilitate students who come from rural areas. Such students don’t have internet access and therefore, the university wants to arrange classes for them before conducting exams.

However, the institutions are still waiting for the decision of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Prioritization of timely examination and declaration of results of outgoing classes was also discussed during the meeting.
