Ahead of the reopening of the academic institutions, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the safety of students and staff members.
Delhi School Reopening: With the directions released by the government of Delhi, the schools of the National Capital are all set to open for Classes 9 to 12. Along with this, state colleges, universities and coaching institutes will also reopen from September 1. Ahead of the reopening of the academic institutions, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the safety of students and staff members. Children will be able to take classes at a time up to a maximum of 50 per cent of the seating capacity of the classroom, as per the SOPs issued by DDMA.
According to the SoPs laid down by the government, the schools will reopen following all COVID-19 protocols. Every class will have a different time formula for social distancing. The classes will be conducted in two shifts and there will be a gap of at least one hour between the morning and evening shift. No sharing of food, books and other stationery items will be allowed. To avoid too much crowd during lunch breaks, schools have been asked to keep lunch breaks in an open areas at this different times.
DDMA has also advised alternate seating arrangements. No student will be allowed to attend school without parental approval. If a parent does not want to send his child to school, he or she will not be compelled to do so, DDMA has said. Staff members or students living in the containment zone will not be allowed to come to school.
Creating a quarantine room in the school premises is mandatory in order to let any child or staff member rest if needed. Regular cleaning of the school premises, adequate availability of soap and water in the toilets is mandatory. Also, the schools must make sure that there is the availability of thermal scanners, sanitisers and masks, etc. on the school premises.
Thermal scanning and hand sanitizing at the entry gate of the school and wearing masks is a must for all children as well as staff members. School heads have also been asked to ensure that all teachers and staff members coming to the school are vaccinated.
Schools conducting vaccination drives or ration distribution have been asked to conduct academic activity in separate areas. For this, separate entry-exit points will be made and civil defense staff will be deployed.
