Human Resource Development Ministry Secretary Mr. Amit Khare has said that the problem of Delhi University Ad-hoc teachers would be resolved soon. He was addressing the students and faculty of Shivaji College and informed that he had conducted thorough discussions with the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Delhi University pertaining to the problems of Ad-hoc teachers. He further informed that he had asked the VC to take steps for filling the unoccupied faculty positions and also for the promotion of teachers.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the new wing of Shivaji College, Delhi. During the inaugural function, Khare paid tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He asserted that it is both appropriate and important that the new block is named after MatashreeJijabai, Shivaji’s mother who played a conclusive role in the upbringing of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This new block has been built under the guidance of the principal, Dr. Shashi Nijhawan. The building has cutting edge infrastructure, consisting of laboratories, seminar halls, auditoriums, classrooms and many other amenities for students and faculty.

Mr. Khare applauded Dr.Nijhawan and the faculty for this evocative addition to the college. He said that it has added both quantitatively and qualitatively to the college infrastructure and to the pedagogic and mentoring process. He also observed that naming the academic block in the name of Mata Jijabai also highlights women empowerment. Shivaji College is now the second institution of the University of Delhi to have a Finance Lab. This a great advantage for the student to gain hands-on knowledge of different processes.
