Gujarat School Reopening: The Gujarat government on August 25 announced their decision to reopen schools for Classes 6 to 8 from September 2. Amid the declining cases of the novel coronavirus, the schools will open with 50 percent capacity. Chief Minister Vijay Rupani took the decision to resume physical lectures for Classes 6 to 8 in schools in a cabinet meeting during the day, state Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama told. The minister further added that while the schools in the state have received permission to resume classes from their premises, they have also been asked to continue with the online lessons for these classes. While announcing the school reopening, Chudasama said, "All the SOPs announced in July for Classes 9 to 11 will also apply for Classes 6 to 8. All students, teachers and staff need to wear masks and maintain social distancing. School managements need to keep sanitisers and hand wash in their premises.”
According to the latest update, until Tuesday, while the death toll remained unchanged at 10,079, Gujarat reported 14 fresh cases of coronavirus, which took its tally of infections to 8,25,330.
