In light of the national lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic, Prof Tariq Mansoor, Aligarh Muslim University Vice-Chancellor, has requested the people all across the globe to provide help to the economically weaker sections of the society. During the national lockdown imposed to tackle the COVID-19, he urged people to assist the poor section of the society in every possible way. He requested the students and other members of the university community to completely work together in sync with the instructions issued by the Central and State governments to control the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In his appeal, Prof Mansoor stated that the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital of Aligarh Muslim University was playing a leading role and was one of the attributed centres for testing COVID-19. The Vice-Chancellor said that JNMC was getting samples from all over western Uttar Pradesh. He thanked all the doctors and Para medical staff and everyone concerned for their untiring efforts. Prof Mansoor said that though a majority of students had already left for their homes, yet about 5000 male and female students were still present in several halls of residences as they cannot leave due to the national lockdown.

The Vice-Chancellor asserted that along with other university officials such as the Proctor, Provosts, Wardens, Registrar, DSW and their teams, he is personally and on daily basis observing the welfare and safety of the students. He urged the students to utilise their time pursuing their academic activities especially in "Online Learning" while also maintaining social distance from each other.
