Himachal Pradesh government has deferred the school reopening date again. According to the latest updates, the Himachal Pradesh government has announced that the schools will continue to remain closed until September 4, 2021. State Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj informed that the government has taken the decision on the deferment of Himachal School reopening due to the situation of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the state.

According to the official notice released earlier, the government had allowed the teaching and non-teaching staff to attend the schools. However, the sudden spike in the COVID-19 cases has made the state government to defer the Himachal School Reopening date. The minister said that the decision taken is in the best interest of the students and other stakeholders.

A two-day drive was conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Government to educate teachers and non-teaching staff, including mid-day meal workers, on COVID-19 appropriate behaviour. The campaign was aimed to teach teachers and staff of the schools to implement the SOPs against COVID-19 spread effectively. Earlier, the government ordered to reopen schools on August 28, 2021.

In the last 24 hours, the state has reported 281 new COVID 19 cases and four deaths. A total of 253 patients have recovered from coronavirus. The state has recorded 2,054 active cases, total positive cases stand at 2,12,260, and the total death toll in the state due to disease is 3,562. With the increasing cases of COVID-19, the state government has made it mandatory for tourists to carry RT-PCR negative reports of a minimum of 72 hours or a Vaccination Certificate with both doses.
