Himachal School Reopening: After the reopening of schools in Himachal Pradesh after approximately nineteen months of closure due to the COVID-19 spread, a school in the state is again facing the horror of the novel coronavirus. According to the reports, a total of 35 students at a school tested positive for COVID in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur. A total of 67 persons, including the students, have been infected by the novel coronavirus. An official informed that this took the number of active cases to 317 in the district.

The official further informed that a total of 35 students of the Navodaya Vidyalaya at Doongri in Hamirpur were found to be infected by the COVID-18 virus on Friday, while 11 were earlier tested positive for the virus. Since the outbreak of the deadly virus last year, Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur district has recorded a total of two hundred and eighty-one COVID-related deaths.

According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday, with 21,257 people testing positive for the coronavirus infection in a day, India's total tally of cases rose to 3,39,15,569, while the number of active cases declined to 2,40,221, the lowest in 205 days. The latest updated data states that the death toll has climbed to 4,50,127 with 271 new fatalities. The daily rise in coronavirus infections has been below 30,000 for 14 straight days.

According to the COVID-19 Global Education Recovery Tracker, only half of the schools across the globe have resumed classroom teaching and learning after nearly nineteen months of closure. Meanwhile, around 34 per cent of schools are relying on mixed or hybrid instruction mode. Johns Hopkins University, the World Bank, and UNICEF have jointly created the tracker to assist countries' decision-making by tracking reopening and COVID-19 recovery planning efforts in more than 200 countries.
