JIMS Kalkaji is working towards reducing gap and complexities through online classes during Covid, says Anand Gupta
After Class 10 exams, I realised I am good with calculations and also had an inclination towards the business aspect of the world since I belong to a business-class family. So, capitalising on my area, I opted for the Commerce stream with Mathematics as one of my core subjects to get further exposed to it. After completing BBA, I wanted to continue with higher education so once I step into the industry, I have enough knowledge and practical exposure. Considering that I got myself enrolled in PGDM with International Business as specialisation at JIMS Kalkaji - Jagannath International Management School. What made me pursue this course is the practical and rich exposure it provides that act as a value addition for my overall personality growth. And the reason behind choosing JIMS Kalkaji is the institute's pedagogy plus the quality education with endless opportunities it offers. Also, if we talk about placements, the college provides us with ample opportunities such as Summer Internship Program and live projects that enable one to land to a decent placement offer and therefore a chance to begin the career on a high note.

Before applying for admission to PGDM program at JIMS Kalkaji, One has to appear for management qualifying exams and so I appeared for CAT and MAT exam. I chose to study on my own with the help of preparatory books and Google and finally I was able to clear MAT with 94 percentile. After the MAT results, I did deep-dive research comparing various colleges that accept MAT results and there was a list of institutes in front of me. Upon comparing all of them on the basis of basic parameters such as placements, curriculum, faculty, infrastructure, and other opportunities I realised JIMS Kalkaji would be the best suitable institute for me.
Basis the overall merit performance and scores of the qualifying exam, the institute shortlist students and invite them for a Group Discussion round and Personal Interview round basis which scholarships are offered to students. I was awarded 25 per cent of merit scholarship.
At present, I have just joined the college as a fresher who possess dreams of achieving great heights in his professional career. Unfortunately, because of Covid situation, the online mode of education has become the new normal. So, as far as college experience is concerned, we are yet to get hands-on experience of college but with heads up and being optimistic hope that things turn better for all of us and soon we get to experience things in a way that brings out the best in us. But on a positive side, College is making every possible effort to reduce the gap and complexities through online classes. Faculties and college staff are making the best of efforts to keep the students in tune with the course curriculum and at the same time, students are also giving nothing less than best to keep up with the course.
Talking about extra-curricular, we had such a great and pleasant virtual teacher’s day event where students under the guidance of staff made every possible effort to make the event as lively as possible with games, dance performances and singing as well. We are also about to have Fresher’s meet where students are actively taking part in various responsibilities.

In the past two months, the college has offered me opportunities to get engaged in so many things be it presentations, events, classes and clubs that made be a better multi-tasking in daily life and I can already view the change I wished to see in my thoughts and overall personality
