JIPMER Entrance Exam

JIPMER is an entrance exam conducted by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry for admissions into three years Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Surgery (MS) courses offered by the institute.

This year the exam is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, February 10, 2013.

• M.D. Courses:
• Anatomy (Four seats) 
• Physiology (Four seats)
• Biochemistry (Four seats)
• Pharmacology (Five seats)
• Pathology (Six seats)
• Microbiology (Four seats)
• Transfusion Medicine and Immuno Hematology (One seat)
• Community Medicine (Five seats)
• Anaesthesiology (Ten seats)
• Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy (Five seats)
• Forensic Medicine ( Two seats)
• General Medicine (Thirteen seats)
• Pediatrics (Ten seats) 
• Psychiatry (Two seats)
• Pulmonary Medicine (Two seats)
• Radio-diagnosis (Three seats)
• Radiotherapy (Four seats)

M.S. courses:

• General Surgery (Thirteen seats)
• Obstetrics & Gynaecology (Thirteen seats)
• Ophthalmology (Five seats)
• Orthopedic Surgery (Five seats)
• Oto-Rhino Laryngology (E.N.T.) (Four seats)

Eligibility:

• Applicant must be an Indian national
• They must possess MBBS or an equivalent degree recognized by the Medical Council of India.
• They must have either completed or due to complete one year internship (Rotatory Housemanship) training by 31st March 2013.
• Aspirants who have already done / completed MD/MS in any subject in any Institution are not eligible for admission to MD/MS course at JIPMER

Paper pattern:

• Encompassing 250 single best response type MCQs and covering all subjects, this 3 hour entrance exam shall have only paper.The Entrance Examination will be of the standard of MBBS.
• All questions will be of one best / correct response type having four alternatives.
• More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and negative mark will be given.
• Each answer with correct response shall be awarded four Marks.
• Questions not answered will be given zero marks
• ZERO mark will be given for the questions not answered.
• Negative marks will be given for incorrect response. For every incorrect response, ONE mark will be deducted.

The question paper consists of:

• PART I: Basic Clinical Sciences including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine & Toxicology.- 100 Questions
• PART II: Clinical Sciences including Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics &  Gynecology, Community Medicine, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, ENT, Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry,Radio-diagnosis and Radio-therapy.- 150 Questions

Download of Admit Cards JIPMER website www.jipmer.edu.in (The admit cards will be made available through internet only and not by post)	January 20, 2013 onwards
Date  & Time of Entrance Examination	February 10, 2013(10 a.m to 1 p.m)
Expected date of Publication of Merit List	February 18, 2013
First Counseling	March 20, 2013 and March 21, 2013
