The Kerala State Higher Education Department withdrew its initial order that directed the universities located in the state to conduct exams after May 11. According to the latest notice released by the authorities, the state education department allowed the universities to decide the dates of the examinations as per their convenience. However, the notice suggests that the universities have to decide the schedule only after the lockdown is lifted from their area.
The notification released initially by the department suggested that as per the directions of the government, the universities are encouraged to conduct the remaining exams from May 11 onward. It also directed the academic institutions to strictly follow the precautionary laid down by the health ministry to contain the spread of COVID-19 while conducting exams.
However, the revised notification suggests that the universities are allowed to conduct the remaining exams as per their convenience. However, the notice also states that the Government is receiving requests from parents and students to conduct remaining exams once the transportation services resume back to normal. In this case, the universities are free to decide the exam time table for the remaining exams after May 3.
The official notification with the revised order is given below. Students can check the same on the state education department’s official website i.e. highereducation.kerala.gov.in.
While addressing the media, Kerala Higher Education Minister KT Kaleel clarified that the initial notice was sent to the universities to help them set a tentative time table for pending exams.
