Jammu and Kashmir government has announced all the educational institutions in the state to remain closed until May 17 in wake of extension in nationwide lockdown for two weeks, to contain coronavirus outbreak in the country.
Jammu and Kashmir government has announced that all schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in the state will remain closed until May 17. This has been done after the nationwide lockdown was extended for two weeks.
"All educational and training institutions will remain closed in the state until May 17," said Rohit Kansal, Principal Secretary (Planning), Jammu and Kashmir tweeted.
The government has been taking several steps to ensure students do not suffer any academic loss during this lockdown period. For this, the government has also started taking online classes. They have also provided students with books at their doorsteps. To make sure the learning is not hampered, the J&K authorities have organized Radio classes in collaboration with All India Radio, AIR for the students who could not access the internet in the state.
Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir government had asked teachers to start the evaluation work of answer sheets of JKBOSE class 10 and JKBOSE class 12 that were held in the summer zones of Jammu division from home. The evaluators or sub-examiners have been directed to check the answer scripts at home as a one-time exception.
Jammu & Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has also postponed all its examinations until further orders, as a precautionary measure, in the wake of Coronavirus in the country. On March 31, the Board had said that the rescheduled dates of the exams will be notified separately.
As per the latest update by the Union health ministry, total Coronavirus cases in India have crossed the 40,000-mark.
